Extremely true.

Are you aware of our other Durr related threads?
Yes, thanks, Rollo. I mainly lurk around the forums these days, but I keep up with all the threads. I love reading about the elder generation of the tennis fraternity. They made the game what it is today.

Very lucky. It's just unbelievable how a series of events unfolded to allow me to first of all meet Frankie initially, and then to become good friends. Certainly it was something I never expected, but it has all been like a dream for me considering she was my lifelong tennis idol since I first saw her hit a tennis ball on TV back in the 70s.

It's funny how my tennis video collection repaid itself many times over the years (and still does) not with money but with being able to meet tennis legends from around the world.

Anyway, I got a beautiful email off Frankie just a week ago saying how much Jessica and her are missing us all in Australia at this time of the year. So it's great to know she had such a memorable time with us ... that gives me a huge buzz.

So she actually had a single backhand? I thought it was a double one on the bits I've seen on YouTube against Virginia Wade (1973 Wimbledon). That's because she keeps her left hand on the racquet until she hits the ball. A very original backhand anyway.

We need more videos of that player, her style is intriguing.

Re: Where is Francoise Durr Browning?

Pretty fine video here of a 1976 double match between Durr/Nagelsen vs Evert/Shaw.

Time to appreciate some 70's play. And Frankie's especially. Funny court!

Best rally at 16:20, Durr serving. It gives a good idea of her curious style, which makes me think she was pretty much the Radwanska of her days!

Franky has been reported missing, her last known whereabouts was setting off on an expedition to explore Nathalie Tauziat's gusset to find a couple of mislaid tennis balls from a recent practice session they had. I hope she's safe.

Hello, Kathy. Frankie Durr was celebrated for her orthodox shots. But I don't recall her ever hitting the likes of this very bizarre "lobbed dropshot", which bounces about ten feet in the air (on grass!). Really, what were you thinking of?

Re: Where is Francoise Durr Browning?

I saw Frankie at this year's Australian Open (on TV). Sitting in a player's box. And blimey, for the life of me I can't remember the player! She wasn't French, but it was quite surprising to see Frankie there in a player box.
