Wikipedia inaccuracies

Does anyone else here have any interest in browsing various wiki pages such as the link above and correcting inaccuracies?

Re: Wikipedia inaccuracies

They need to fix Suzanne Lenglen's page too, they combined her WHCC and French Championship results: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzanne_Lenglen

What they should do is show the French Championship results and then have a separate line for the WHCC results.

Besides the fact that it's wrong to combine, there is no consistency. For example, Tony Wilding, won the WHCC but his win is shown in a separate line.

Re: Wikipedia inaccuracies

Sam, they are fairly easy to fix, mostly cut and paste, but you unfortunately need a little html knowledge for the rows and columns layouts.

Hey Mark, yeah I know HTML and I know you can fix it. But doesn't it need to be verified or have an account?

I mean going back to the Lenglen issue, having WHCC as a separate tournament actually shows her achievements at two separate events and accurately portrays how tennis events were at the time.

Re: Wikipedia inaccuracies

No, not at all. You can go and change it right now, and instantly...there it is. That part is a little scary and why politicians pages can changes hundreds of times throughout a big controversial news day.

Thank you for bringing this important topic to light Mark.

Wikipedia is a wonderful resource, but the sheer quantity of information and having so many hands in the pie can sometimes lead to errors.

I am hoping to entice Wolbo in here to address some of these issues if he is inclined. He does a ton of great work on Wikis (in more than one language no less!) and has earned my deep respect.

This thread could also be a place for Wolbo (or others) to add any additions or updates to tennis related wiki entries.
