The Top Favourites:
1. Kveta Peschke CZE
2. Iveta Benesova CZE
3. Klara Koukalova CZE
4. Anabel Medina Garrigues ESP
In the top half of the draw it looks like the Czech Republic and Italy have the strongest position to deliver a finalist. Klara Koukalova and Iveta Benesova both needed only two sets to survive the first round. They are joined by compatriot Zuzana Ondraskova in the second round. Italy relies on Silvia Farina-Elia and Roberta Vinci to get the job done. Farina-Elia impressively only dropped two games against Henke, so she might be dangerous for the Czech dominance.
In the bottom half another Czech favourite clearly showed she means business here. Kveta Peschke quickly brushed Martina Sucha aside. The other favourite in this half Anabel Medina Garrigues however fell just short against Bulgaria's rising star Tzvetana Pironkova. The bottom half also still has youngsters as Jarmila Gajdosova and Agnes Szavay playing, so it could get interesting in this part of the draw.
