She has to be atrocious if she is not ready for a 1st round qualy of a $10K in South America
She is quite young and this are her first tournament, she is just 15 I think so with a good nutrician and trainner she could get fit soon. Btw there is a player who was slower than her,the player that Im writting about is Carla Martinez who is 26 and was double bagel yesterday.
Barbara Gatica (CHI) def Laura Cardone (BRA)
This was the best quality of the day of what I saw, Barbara hits a one handed backhand very flat and fast but her weapon is her forehand for sure a lot power and plenty of forehand down the line winners for her.
She is one of the south american girls who played a couple of junior itf in europe a couple of week ago so you can see that she has a nice tennis level for a qualy round, I pretty sure that Feña Gonzalez must be like her idol because always tried to hit the forehand and goes for her shot, she needs to get more fit and work in her defense because she was sometimes exposed by Cardone who has good shot selection but lack of weapon, probably her double handed backhand is her best shot, most likly a counter-pusher and went to net a couple of times to close and hit two lucky shots with her overhead. Her friend Guadalupe Perez Rojas was watching the match with their coach.
Juliana Cardoso (BRA) def Josefina Surraco (ARG)
Juliana is blonde brazlian girl with a nice body, who hits the ball quite flat on both sides and very low of the net most of the time cross court shots. Her first serve is good made a two aces (probably more dont know I saw two)and was able to put some easy ball next.
Surraco in the other hand has a good actitude, never give up she was down and set and double break, and break back and was close to made the mach longer, is very thin, was in a defense position most of the time and make some wild error when tried to attack, also had more trouble to the with the wind, was very windy yesteday.
Dalpra (ARG) def Soto (CHI)
Well this could be an upset considering the fact that Soto has a WTA Ranking and was seed it in here lol, the match was quite long with long games and some long rallies from the basiline I thought that Soto would make some differense but I was wrong.
Dalpra is tall, probably 1.75 and hits very clean from the baseline, goes for her shots and made some nice winners, her defense is not bad at all either.
Dalpra has a better serve than Soto, flat first serve and slice second serve, her coach is a young boy and the day before yesterday they were trainning a lot of volleys but did not see her volley yesterday. Soto moves the ball well but nothing more really.
Gobbi (ARG) def Martinez (ARG)
I did not check Martinez profile in ITF so I dont know if she is bagel girl but yesteday was double bagel, it is not easy to analize the match because Gobbi was never forced in the match, some shots probably but nothing more.
Ana Victoria Gobbi made a lot of drop shot with her forehand that Martinez did not bother to run lol, but at least Carla made some volleys winners that sorprise Gobbi, one stop forehand volley was very nice shot from her but most of the time that she rush the net Gobbi hit a passing shot winner.
Gobbi put a high % of first serve in so I dont know if she usually serve like that, if that her serve I could said that is predictable and slow really.
Also so a little bit of Nicolini vs Habeut, Aguirri vs Cañas and Labaqui vs Naya, I did not bother to watch Asensos vs Guasaco because the points a saw was low quality shots from both, two double faults in a row, an easy volley missing and very long forehand mistake so decided to keep watch Dalpra match on court one.
