Re: 10,000$ Santa Fe, Argentina, Aug04, Draws
Eduarda Piai def Milagros Montero
Eduarda Piai serve is a WTA level service for sure, so powerfull, well placed also she is able to hit it can with kick, so has a lot of variety with her main weapon . Did not watch a lot of this match because matches on court five where really fun, so just a couple of points as the result was NID, the points a saw was in Duda hands every shot.
Carla Lucero def Maria Agustina de Carli
This match was also played it on court three I was looking forward to see Carlita because followed her since forever and like her fighting spirit. She is playing as usually most of time a defense tennis with a combination of top spin and slice, the problem is when her shots are not deeper enough to hurt the opponent so is a way too defensive at times but when realized that she start to be more agressive with her forehand and also made a lot of net approches, most of her approches were with a slice shot, her volleys are okey, could be better and saw two overhead shots, one made a winner and the other she missed.
Magus de Carli makes some progress of the last time that I saw, she keeps playing with the same style of game, agressive baseline player who prefer to hit flat with her forehand but Carla defense was too solid for her to break it and when Carla decided to attack more the match was nicer to watch, good rallies from the baseline with both running a lot.
Guadalupe Perez Rojas def Camila Silva
Camila is a shadow of her previous carear, she is not fit enough but you can see that her technique is there, she was not patience at all against someone like Perez Rojas who is very solid from the baseline.
Camila Silva backhands is most of the time with a slice, a good one for sure but did not made any trouble for Perez Rojas who deal with it very well.
Guadalupe moves so well on court and also moves the ball very well, she worked a lot her serve, in the past she made ton of double faults and now she is very solid with that weapon and her points contruction are great, some swing volley to take the ball eary and finish the point too are other things that she has in her arsenal of shots.
Estable def Gatica
This match was the battle of day for me but I missed Brito vs Ferrero match so dont know if it was the match of day in terms of drama because in the third set Julieta was in total control of the match and Barbara was dead tired and run out gas. Julieta biggest weapon is her forehand hor sure, is a great shot, plenty of winner from everywhere and her points contruction depend of that shot because the backhand is solid, not mistakes with it but is not agressive enough I like the way that she goes to net to finish the point after some good forehand but need more work on the net zone because some Gatica passing shot winners were because Julieta was not in a good position at the net and also missed a couple of easy shot there, definitly Mariana Diaz Oliva who is her coach realize that and will work with it.
As I said above Gatica hits a one handed backhand and also prefer to hit most of her shot with her forehand. However her court positioning is still very much a work in progress, as she never seems to know when to step in and have a go at the ball and when to rally from behind the baseline, anyway I can see her into the top 800 at the end of the year, for sure playing against Estable was far from being a good draw.
Cardoso def Asensos
Saw just a couple of games, Asensos grunt is just too high, her shots are not powerfull either heavy and her serve is quite slow, one of the slowest that I saw today but Asensos moves well, good defensive player who can moonball and put a lot of ball on court.
Cardoso hits flat from the baseline and really fast shots with her forehand, some winners down the line were pretty cool but her game is not solid enough, made a lot of mistakes, and she likes to play quite low so a lot of shot kept in the net, specially with her double handed backhand when she tried to hit down the line had less problems to hit it a cross court.
I think that Cardoso style of game should suit better on hardcourts, probably she grow up on hard court
Also saw a Aguirri vs Farfan second set and some of Anita "hot legs" Madcur vs Sofia Luini.
+Aguirri hits very well on the run, made some nice winners from the baseline, first serve is decent and probably could play better on hard courts.
++Farfan is a short girl, agressive from the baseline and with a very good footwork, made a couple of double faults so her serve need some work, she is also coached by Mariana Diaz Oliva.
+++Madcur is a lovely player, put a lot of serve in, if we look at the stat we can see that she did not hit a single DF, her service montion is weird but used to be worse but her game is rock solid from the baseline, the way she moves the ball from side to side.
++++ Luini is a nice gilr too, sadly she has to meet against a player who have a good relantionship, is a good ball striker but yesterday made a lot of mistakes and was clearly off day.
+++++Im not going today.
