10,000$ Adana, Turkey

Adana Atlispor

Surface: Clay

Adana (Turkish: Adana) (the ancient Antioch in Cilicia or Antioch on the Sarus)) is the capital of Adana Province in Turkey. The city administrates two districts, Seyhan and Yüreğir, with a total population of 1,530,257[1] and an area of 1,945 km²[2]. It is the fifth most populous city of Turkey (after Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir and Bursa).
For most Turkish people, the word 'Adana' associates with Kebab, şalgam, cotton, oranges and very hot weather.
Adana is named among the 25 European Regions of the Future for 2006/2007 by Foreign Direct Investment Magazine. Chosen alongside Kocaeli for Turkey, Adana scored the most points for cost effectiveness against Kocaeli's points for infrastructure development, while Adana and Kocaeli tied on points for the categories of human resources and quality of life.

10,000$ Bell Ville, Argentina

Club Atletico y Biblioteca Bell

Surface: Clay

Bell Ville is a city in center-south of the province of Córdoba, Argentina, located 200 km southeast from the capital Córdoba City, on the intersection of National Route 9 and Provincial Route 3 with the Córdoba–Rosario–Buenos Aires railroad.
Besides primary activities like agriculture (soybeans, wheat, sunflowers, maize) and cattle farming, and secondary ones (elaborated products of the aforementioned), Bell Ville has a peculiar local industry: the manufacturing of footballs. The city prides itself in being the "National Capital of the Football".
The origin of Bell Ville's current city is located in 1650 when the couple constituted by Lorenzo de Lara and Mimenza and Marcela of Mendoza create the so called stay " Our Lady of the Pure and Clean Concepcion ", though the place already was known as Dead Friar, due to the fact that between the carob groves the corpse of a catholic priestwas found apparently dead for jaguars or pumas.

Re: 10,000$ week of Apr28, Entries

10,000$ Brescia, Italy

1° Torneo Forza e Costanza

Surface: Clay

Brescia (Lombard: Brèsa) is a city in the region of Lombardy in northern Italy. It is situated at the foot of the Alps, between the Mella and the Naviglio, with a population of around 190,000. It is the second largest city in Lombardy, after the capital, Milan.
The city is the administrative capital of the Province of Brescia, one of the largest in Italy, with about 1,200,000 inhabitants. The ancient city of Brixia, Brescia has been an important regional centre since pre-Roman times and a number of Roman and medieval monuments are preserved, among which is the prominent castle.
The city is at the centre of the third-largest Italian industrial area, concentrating on mechanical and automotive engineering and machine tools. Its companies are typically small or medium- sized enterprises, often with family managements. The financial sector is also a major employer, and the tourist trade benefits from the proximity of Lake Garda, Lake Iseo and the Alps.
The plan of the city is rectangular, and the streets intersect at right angles, a peculiarity handed down from Roman times, though the area enclosed by the medieval walls is larger than that of the Roman town, which occupied the eastern portion of the present one. The Piazza del Foro marks the site of the forum, and the museum on its north side is ensconced in a Corinthian temple with three cellae, by some attributed to Hercules, but more probably the Capitolium of the city, erected by Vespasian in AD 73 (if the inscription really belongs to the building[1], which was excavated in 1823. The museum houses a famous bronze statue of Victory, found in 1826. Scanty remains of a building on the south side of the forum, called the curia, but which may have been a basilica, and of the theatre, east of the temple, still exist.

Re: 10,000$ week of Apr28, Entries

10000$ Bournemouth, Great Britain

The West Hants Club

Surface: Clay

Bournemouth is a large town and tourist resort, situated on the south coast of England. With a population of 164,000 it is the largest settlement in the ceremonial county of Dorset. The town is a regional centre of education and business and part of the South East Dorset conurbation, with the adjoining town of Poole. The town is most notable as the home of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, as well as Bournemouth University and the Bournemouth International Centre. The town is also home to several financial companies including JPMorgan Chase, the Portman Building Society and Standard Life.
Bournemouth is located about 105 miles southwest of London at 50.72° N 1.88° W. A roundabout at the end of the Wessex Way called "County Gates" (but commonly known as Frizzell roundabout after the insurance brokers based there, now part of Liverpool Victoria friendly society) marks the historic border between Hampshire and Dorset, and also marks the border between Bournemouth and Poole.
Historically Bournemouth was part of Hampshire, with Poole just to the west of the border between the two counties. At the time of the 1974 local government re-organisation, it was considered desirable that the whole of the Poole/Bournemouth urban area should be part of the same county. Bournemouth therefore became part of the non-metropolitan county of Dorset on 1 April1974. On April 1, 1997, Bournemouth became a unitary authority, independent from the county council. For the purposes of the Lieutenancy it remains part of the ceremonial county of Dorset.

Re: 10,000$ week of Apr28, Entries

10,0000$ Bucharest, Romania

Trofeul Distrigaz Sud

Surface: Clay

Bucharest (Romanian: Bucureşti /bu.kuˈreʃtʲ/ (help·info)) is the capital city and industrial and commercial centre of Romania. It is located in the southeast of the country, at 44°25′N, 26°06′E, and lies on the banks of the Dâmboviţa River.
By European standards, Bucharest is not an old city, its existence first being referred to by scholars as late as 1459.[2] Since then it has gone through a variety of changes, becoming the state capital of Romania in 1862 and steadily consolidating its position as the centre of the Romanian mass media, culture and arts. Its eclectic architecture is a mix of historical, interbellum, Communist-era and modern. In the period between the two World Wars, the city's elegant architecture and the sophistication of its elite earned Bucharest the nickname of the "Paris of the East" or "Little Paris" (Micul Paris).[3] Although many buildings and districts in the historic centre were damaged or destroyed by war, earthquakes and Nicolae Ceauşescu's program of systematization, much survived. In recent years, the city has been experiencing an economic and cultural boom.[4]
According to mid-2005 official estimates, Bucharest proper has a population of 1,924,959.[1] The urban area extends beyond the limits of Bucharest proper and has a population of 2.1 million people.[5] Adding the satellite towns around the urban area, the metropolitan area of Bucharest has a population of 2.6 million people.[5]. Bucharest is the 6th largest capital city in the European Union.
Economically, the city is by far the most prosperous in Romania[6] and is one of the main industrial centres and transportation hubs of Eastern Europe. As the most important city in Romania, Bucharest also has a broad range of educational facilities.
The city proper is administratively known as the Municipality of Bucharest (Municipiul Bucureşti), and has the same administrative level as a county, being further subdivided into six sectors.

10,000$ Kochi, India

Fisat Circuit Kochi

Surface: Clay

Kochi (pronunciation (help·info); Malayalam: കൊച്ചി IPA: [koˈʧːi]), formerly known as Cochin, is a city in the Indianstate of Kerala. The city is one of the principal seaports of the country and is located in the district of Ernakulam, about 220 kilometres (137 mi) north of the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. It has an estimated population of 600,000, with an extended metropolitan population of about 1.5 million, making it the largest urban agglomeration and the second largest city in Kerala after the capital.
Since 1102 CE, Kochi was the seat of the Kingdom of Cochin, a princely state which traces its lineage to the Kulasekhara empire. Heralded as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, Kochi was an important spice trading centre on the Arabian Sea coast from the 14th century onwards. Ancient travellers and tradesmen referred to Kochi in their writings, variously alluding to it as Cocym, Cochym, Cochin, and Cochi. Occupied by the Portuguese in 1503, Kochi was the site of the first European colonial settlement in India. It remained the capital of Portuguese India until 1530, when Goa became the capital. The city was later occupied by the Dutch, the Mysore and the British. Kochi was the first princely state to willingly join the Indian Union, when India gained independence in 1947.
