Went to watch the 1st round of qualifying yesterday. Could watch all the matches at once as played on courts 9 - 12, with the spectators sat at the side of court 9, so obviously didn't get that great a view of court 12. The courts are in very good condition (especially considering the recent hot dry weather) and are certainly in much better state than Felixstowe's (which were very worn even at the start of the week).
As you can see from the scores they were some big gulfs in ability in some of the matches yesterday, with quite a few players playing who would struggle to get into some of the more popular $10ks.
Not going today with only the final qualifying round to be played, but on yesterday's performances I'd predict the following players to qualify: Galinier (once she got her game together, she looked the best player in yesterday's field), Fitzpatrick, Cetnik, Craven, Scarfi, Richards (could be very close against Hingley), Webster, De Bruyn (my guess is she was the oldest player playing yesterday).
Interesting that the Camara sisters (who I had never seen play before) are down as British. Yet, along with their Dad, and a male player (not sure if he was related, as the OOP page I got only had the ladies matches), they were speaking in Portuguese (at least that's what it sounded like) the majority of the time, and when anyone spoke to them in English, their replies were quite limited, as if they hadn't been learning English for very long.
Finally Broady was hampered by a right shoulder problem, for which she received treatment at the end of the second set.
