I managed to get to Horb-Bildechingen on Thursday afternoon, cause I was driving from Bonn university to Freiburg university and Horb was on its way
I saw the following matches :
Kristina Barrois (2) d. Eva-Maria Hoch 60 61
I arrived when the match had just begun and I was really excited to see Kristina Barrois play, because I wanted to know what she really has! I could not see much of the match though, 'cause it lasted just like 40 or 50 minutes
Eva-Maria is definitely hot
With her great blue outfit and her black hair she has something of Lina Krasnoroutskaya
What was not so hot was her play. She made about 2 or 3 unforced errors in a game and seemed like she didnt really care. Eva has a good backhand which can be a strong weapon. Her serve and her forehand is nothing special, she made some aces and some double faults. Eva was just off her game this day - nothing seemed to be working.
Kristina played well! She has a good powerful forehand and a tricky slice-backhand which is soooo flat! She played really clever and was sending Eva-Maria all over the place. She often played awesome drop-shots (sometimes just after Eva's serve) whoch were simply too good for the Austrian. Kristina was somehow not pleased with her play though (I dont know why
) and was complaining a lot. She definitely wanted a double-bagel, but at 6-0 4-0* Eva-Maria made 3 backhand winners.
There was a certain tention between the two players. Kristina often pumped herself up with a "Vamos!" and Eva didnt like that. When she once hit a spectacular winner Eva looked right into Kristina's eyes and screamed VAMOS!!!!
At 3-0 in the second set Eva took a medical time out and all the spectators had to smile cause it was soooo a fluke! The trick didnt work and Kristina cruised through the match with a 6-0 6-1 scoreline!! Eva left the court quickly.....
It was a one-sided, but good and interesting match and I think Kristina has a lot of potential!
Eva-Maria Hoch (AUT)
Kristina Barrois (GER)
Darija Jurak (1) d. Martina Pavelec 57 75 63
When the two players came on court I could not believe my eyes. I thought Kveta Peschke was on court, but it was Darija; I think she looks a lot like Kveta :retard:
After the warming up I assumed Darija would kill Martina on court, cause she has flat powerful groundstrokes and seemed really confident. Martina was a bit unsecure and nervous. She has a good forehand and a solid serve, but her one-handed backhand is
She hit soooo many misshits with that!
But when the match started everything was different. Darija played shit and Martina became more and more confident and aggressive. Darija once stood 1 metre away from the net and smashed like 3 metres out
She was completely off her game and she threw her racket many times. Martina led 4-2 and Darija somehow managed to get back and hold a set-point at 5-4*. But Martina played very good at that moment and took the set 7-5. She even built up a *4-1 lead in the second set and it seemed like it would be a huge upset on court No1.
However, Darija didnt give up and she started to play a lot better. She hit winners all over the place and Martina was completely lost. When Darija is on she is a pleasure to watch, cause she is very aggressive and comes to the net very often. From 1-4* in the second set Darija was in control of the match and never looked back. Martina nearly cried when she lost the second set and said some ugly things to herself....
It was a good and exciting match with a lot of winners, but Darija needed to play a lot better if she wanted to go further. I already expected her to lose to Laura Siegemund and she did one day later. I sat next to Sandra Martinovic during the match who was loudly cheering for Darija and was very happy when her doubles partner won the match.
Martina Pavelec (GER)
Darija Jurak (CRO)
Hafner/Rodionova d. Amesbauer/Bacquet 62 16 76(5)
I did not see much of the match, cause I preferred to watch Jurak vs Pavelec, but sometimes I went over to see the match which was really close!
Arina is cute
She wanted to win the match and was so happy when she made a point and was disappointed when she made an unforced error. Melanie might have had some mother instict, cause she cared about Arina and was playing really good.
Verena and Emilie were a funny couple, cause Vera is tall and Emilie is very small. But they teamed up very good!
The first two sets went very fast, but the third set lasted about one hour and was soo exciting. Arina and Melanie built up a 5-3* lead, but then started choking. Nothing worked any longer by both! Emilie and Verena used this momentum and hold with ease to get va 6-5* lead. Now Arina was serving and I was a bit scared if she could manage the pressure. But she did it and we had a tie-breaker. Arina played so well in this tie-breaker
Melanie and Arina won it 7-5 and they were both very happy!! I was a bit sorry for Verena and Emilie, cause it was a good match!
Verena Amesbauer (AUT)
Emilie Baqcuet (FRA)
Melanie Hafner (GER)
Arina Rodionova (RUS)
Brozda/Kolat (2) d. Harmsen/Pera 46 63 63
I began watching the match when the Dutch just took the first set. Danielle is a very strong and powerful player, but she doesnt know the word consistancy. After one winner came 3/4 unforced errors. Eva played solid, but nothing special. After I watched some of the second set I asked myself how the Polish could lose the first set, because they dominated the last two sets! Natalia was the weaker link in the combo. She made many errors and often complained in polish. Olga was very nice to Natalia and often cheered her up after a bad error. Olga is a great doubles player!! She made many aces and played some spectacular volleys and smashs
What I quickly figured out was that Olga and Eva had some catfight going on
Both often played longeline and tried to hit each other, it was quite funny to watch
. But it was not meant mean of both, I think they just wanted to show who is the master on the court!!
It was a good match to watch with some great rallies, but Olga and Natalia really dominated sets 2 and 3 and the Dutch should be lucky that they got 3 games in the sets. After the match was over both teamy were very nice to each other and the Dutch were not too upset about the loss. Eva even smiled in my camera
I cannot understand why Olga/Natalia lost in the next round, cause they seemed to me as a strong doubles team
Olga Brozda (POL)
Natalia Kolat (POL)
Danielle Harmsen (NED)
Eva Pera (NED)
Israilova/Tchalova d. Siegemund/Szili (4) 64 64
Ivanna and Elena seemed to be good friends, cause they got along with each other really good and shared a lot of jokes together. They spoke a lot in Russian to each other during the match - you could have written a thick book of that
Elena and Ivanna easily overpowered Laura and Adriana from the baseline; just Laura could resist some time. Elena made some huge spectacular strokes and she really was the player of this match! Laura and Adriana tried everything to win this match as Laura was very happy to play in her home country and wanted to show what she has! They realized that they wont have a chance from the baseline and so they came to the net very often. Adriana even played some serve&volley
They made up a great team.
The mother of Laura was sitting next to me and told me that Laura called Adriana after both had no doubles partner and both wanted to play. Laura's mother also told me that she would be happy if Darija Jurak wins in her match against Martina Pavelec so that Laura could get some juicy quality points (and she got them yesterday!!) She was really a nice person!
Ivanna and Elena behaved very immature on court. They were laughing and talking all the time. When Ivanna made a stupid mistake Elena began to laugh very loud and Ivanna started laughing too. And once, Elena made a spectacular forehand-down-the-line which brought them the break Ivanna was clapping her hands and giggled like she just got a birthday present
However, Ivanna and Elena really were in control of the match and won 64 64. The scoreline could have been worse for Laura and Adriana if Ivanna and Elena would have focused more!
It was a funny match and Elena definitely won it. She has a great forehand and a good serve and I think she could do ggod in the future. I dont know about Ivanna. She played some awesome shots, but also made some lousy errors. Furthermore she was not focused at all. If she wants to raise in the rankings she needs to become focused and consistant.
As for Laura : she was playing good and you could see that she really wants to win some matches! For me it was no surprise that she won against Darija next day!

I had lots of fun in Horb and it was great to be there. The atmosphere was really familiar and the players were walking around and you could talk with them. I hope to be there next year
What I wonder is that there is a ITF tournament is such a small city. There was not much crowd and that was a little sad, cause the girls deserve more people watching them play.
