Welcome to the grounds of Wimbledon! Loads of people will be queueing every day to catch a glimpse of the hotly contested matches in this PYW Grand Slam, with a great amount of allure.
What's at stake? Besides one of the greatest titles, a great load of points can be racked up. And no one is assured of their position on the PYW rankings. Let's take a look at what points can be earned:
* If a qualifier loses in the first round, she gets no first round points as usual.
** Note that these points (R128, Qualifier, Q3, Q2 and Q1) are different from the official points, to make it fairer.
Clijsters fails to get the racquet to the ball and leaves Wimbledon
Well, no one can deny that the quarter finals were more exciting than expected. Kim Clijsters, Ana Ivanovic and Tatiana Golovin were all expected to win their matches. Clijsters, who beat Swiss Patty Schnyder on earlier occasions, crashed out in two quick sets, winning only five games along the way.
Local favourite, and wild card, Elena Baltacha is Schnyder's next hurdle. Patty will be the favourite, but many got ousted by the British woman before. The other semi final is between Venus Williams and Nadia Petrova. Petrova is favourite to win, but Venus keeps surprising a lot of people with her run at The Championships.
Let's see if the semi finals are as surprising as the quarter finals. It is up to you.
Patty Schnyder SUI v. Elena Baltacha GBR [WC] Venus Williams USA v. Nadia Petrova RUS
Sorry, I see what you meant. Unfortunately for Silvia in PYW, the decision made by the PYW Administrator was justifiable and there is nothing we can do about it now. Sorry!
If you have to do the vote again, surelly it should be done 24 hours after the 1st thread was released because all the voters who chose lose their vote! How do we know it was delibrate? Maybe the person who started the vote know his/her favourite doesnt do well at that time and do better in the evening US time???
