PYW Eastbourne - Second Round - Vote now!

PYW Eastbourne

Welcome for the second week of grass tennis this year. Eastbourne is the larger of the two events held this week, wich is clearly reflected by the players field. It promises to be one very exciting tournament.

Will Keothavong be able to handle the pressure?

Preview
All favourites are going strong this week. None but one have lost their first round and they are joined by 2 British players (a qualifier & a wildcard) and some seeds.

The one that did lose? Birmingham Evgenia Linetskaya. She saw her 9 match winning streak ending in the last round to Ukraine's top player Karolina Sprem. The solid baselineplayer outnumbered Linetskaya in a terrific third set tiebreaker. By winning, she now earned her spot in the second round against Czech youngster Nicole Vaidisova, who eliminated 6th seed Vera Zvonareva.

Daniela Hantuchova and Kim Clijsters are also still on their way for a possible final against eachother. However, in order to get that far, they'll have to start with winning their second round. Hantuchova meets a player who is only 2 places ranked below her on the PYW rankings, Anastasia Myskina. The Russian didn't play in the first round, so Dani may have that little edge on her.
Clijsters, on the other, comes across a player ranked much below her. As the only remaining wilcard, Elena Baltacha has made a name for herself over the last two weeks. Not once has she lost in the first round and by that, she established herself as one of the leading British players.

The other British player faces a seed also: Anne Keothavong, who qualified for this event, will take on top 20 player and number one seed here Amelie Mauresmo on Centre Court. The match is completely sold out and bookmakers predict a comfortable win for the British player. Will she be able to fill in the expectations? If so, she will compete Shinobu Asagoe or Marion Bartoli in the quarters...

So let’s see who will win and go through to the quarterfinals.
There’s only one way to find out: VOTE!

I know I've been a liar
And I know I've been a fool
I hope we didn't break it
But I'm glad we broke the rules
My cave is deep now
Yet your light is shining through
I cover my eyes
Still all I see is you
