as expected, it's never really easy in the qualification rounds - but both can make it.
good luck to them!
match analysis sometime later

if you have nothing important to say, please do so in non-tennis forum. if you have something you think is important, but is actually rubbish regarding anything other than tennis - please do so in the non-tennis forum. if you have something tennis related to say, but it's actually "OMG, X player is so h0t!1" or "who has the biggest boobs on the wtatour" please do so in menstennisforum, under "wta forum". if you have something important, tennis-related and interesting to say please do so. Shahar won 2-6 7-6 6-1
She was 0-3 down in the 2nd set, and was very close to losing it.

Kveta will not play here, and Shahar need's one more win for the top 100.

Good luck

well, as you probably know shahar won against nan-nan liu, but i thought i'd add it here as well, shahar qualifying against the alternate 6-2 6-3.
well done. :P

match analysis
Nicole Vaidisova VS (Q) Shahar Peer

She's the youngest player with titles playing at the moment, she's had two of them as well, she's adorable and the hype is buzzing all around her.
she is Vaidisova. and no one dare say anything regarding sharapova.
she just might be that good in a year, but for the moment, she has a path of her own to follow, this time it came across Peer, whom she lost to one year ago in january in a match that gave Shahar the start of her rapid-rapid climb. that match gave the GO! sign for shahar to start her senior career, and she had a very pleasent debut year.
vaidisova on the other hand was still 2 years younger, but that didn't stop her from trying out some tournies, and who would have guessed that the german-born czech would be grabing trophies so early.
so after than pleasent "what could a player do in such a short time?" paragraph it's back to business.
5 wins over top50 players, two of them over top20 and a semi-final + quarters showing this year already. dinara safina, jelena kostanic, karolina sprem and jelena nakovic, a nice res'ume for 5 tournies work. don't forget she has those restrictions bieng so young, so she chooses the tournies well and practises towards every surface and location as much as she can in order to get the best of results, and judgin by her achievments - she's doing very well, never losing before the first two rounds.
should she lose to peer, it would be the first time she lost her opening match in last year's final tournament of hers in philidelphia, and that loss came from 27th ranked frazier. last year she reached the finals of 2 tournies back-toback w3inning the second of them, against one chinise player - peng...
she then reached a QF on WTA, and after some "medium" results (3rd round qualification round in the french and two first round losses on the WTA circuit) she qualifyed and won her first tournament - vancouver, beating 4 seeds along the way.
she then qualifyed for her grand slam debut against then world number one justine henin-hardenne. she lost.
QF and then another title, once again beating four higher ranked seeded players in route.
she's grown since she last met shahar, we have to assume.
but she hasn't played on clay that much.
if i had to exploit her weakness, i'd pretty much tell you to play the best you can.
she lost to JHH, lindsay, koukolova, panetta, crybass, benasova, pierce and lately - ivanovic.
"shit" is the exact phrase in this case.
so what can shahar hope? to take that 3-0 H2H lead, to get evrything back. to tire her down.
basically, to hope for the best and play her game. we all can just hope for the best, right?
and so i'm hoping for a shock straight sets win, easily even - 6-2 6-3.
realistically, shahar wins 6-3 6-4.
