Indian sensation Sania Mirza is proving to be quite a power player off the court. The 18-year-old, who became the first Indian woman to win a WTA Tour title when she captured last month's Hyderabad crown, signed a two year endorsement deal with the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited to serve as "brand ambassador" for the state-owned company's retail brands.
It is the third endorsement deal in recent months for the woman whose performance this season has prompted Mirza-mania in parts of her native India. Mirza has also signed endorsement deals with Italian sportswear manufacturer Lotto and Malabar Gold jewelers. ''I have been spending annually over the last few years for my tennis and now these endorsements would come in handy to pursue my goals in the game even more intensely," Mirza said. "I am not facing any peer pressure of any sort on the tennis court.''
The 77th-ranked Mirza beat reigning U.S. Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-4, 6-2, to advance to the Dubai Duty Free Women's Open quarterfinals last week.
I think that Sanchez Lorenzo is quite beatable. The same goes for Pennetta, who is formidable on clay surface, but who otherwise isn't that good. (She was defeated by Kutuzova last week in IW, if I am not mistaken). I just hope Sania will defeat Myskina!
Yeah let's go match by match. Hopefully an upset win against Myskina will do it for the week. Clijsters maybe too strong and experienced at the moment. But then after the thrashing of Kuznetsova,i am not ruling out anything !
