Re: Bojana Jovanovski...

Nothing really disappointing in this Bojana loss. It's not secret that she will use this challenger like preparation for much more important AO qualies where she has really good chances to reach career first Grand Slam Main Draw. On other hand hypermotivated Krunic played her by far most important match in life. I'm still very optimistic about Jovanovski chances to join AO MD. Check for example results from that Bojana breakthrough period since last US Open: her WORST results is actually from couple smallest events which she played (all ITF-25K), simple because she use them just like preparation for upcoming bigger events (where she rocks). And from start of 2010 perspective, when she is already established WTA TOP150 player 50K events will be smallest-ones (like 25K in 2009) and more used for preparation for upcoming more important events, than to reach there some "success"

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

^^^this is Bojana section! She needs 3, not 4 wins to qualify.
Before draw I give couple times (including this thread) prediction that her chances to qualify is over 50% despite fact that she is unseeded - but now when I see which seeds is on her part of draw I give Bojana even better chances (over 60%!).

German Woerle is on career high ranking right now, and at 1st event of season she already beat one TOP120 and one TOP100 opponent, but Bojana is way more talented player. Lilia Osterloh (former TOP50) is always big mystery, but fact is that she have two disappoint seasons in the row... and she is over 30 veteran. First match is always dangerous and Jovanovski played against home player, but Monica Wejnert should not be big problem for her. Foretz pass her peak, and former junior#1 Halep has so far much worse transition to PRO tour than Bojana.

Good luck Bojana in Main Draw

Re: Bojana Jovanovski...

She won her 1st round match 6-3 4-6 6-2
Obviously there was a lot of wind today. Both of them hit around 50 UE or more, Breaks were constant, there were only few occasions they held their. Obviously, Bojana did well in the third. I hope she'll grow stronger from this match and win the following challenge.

Jelena Janković & Ana Ivanović
Bojana Jovanovski

Jelena Dokić
Kim Clijsters & Serena Williams

Re: Bojana Jovanovski...

1st match is the 1st match and a win is a win... but some stats really looks awful (to be broken 8 times against non-TOP200 player)
Bad sign is also that both seeded players from her part of draw (Osterloh and Woerle) won in straight sets with impressive scoreline.

But I still believe in Bojana chances

Re: Bojana Jovanovski...

7-5 6-2 against seeded Osterloh (former TOP50)
Whatever happens yesterday with her serve, she fixed that today obviously (only once broken)

Now in final round against Kathrin Woerle GER (12) which chose bad moment to play careers best tennis (she is on new career high rank next week, here still not drop any set, and last week beat two TOP120 including one TOP100). But if Bojana want to make GS MD she must to be able to beat this type of WTA players and I'm sure that she has enough quality for that.

BTW Bojana's potential opponents in 1st Round of Main Draw is:

Quarter #1
-vs. Petkovic (could meet Suarez Navarro in next rd and is in Serena's rd32 section)
-vs. Stosur
-vs. Dulko (and possibly meet Ivanovic in next rd )
-vs. Ivanovic
-vs. Groth (and possibly meet Hantuchova in next rd, and is in Li's rd32 section)
-vs. Dulgheru (and meet winner of Pennetta/Chakvetadze in next rd)
-vs. Clijsters
-vs. Govortsova (and meet winner of Rezai/Mirza in next rd, in Kuznetsova's rd32 section)
-vs. Hercog (could meet A. Bondarenko in next rd and in Jankovic's rd32 section)
-vs. A. Bondarenko
-vs. Bacsinszky (could meet Sharapova in next rd)
-vs. Zahlavova Strycova (could meet Safina in next rd)

(bold - seeds)

Re: Bojana Jovanovski...

Bojana played much better today.

Her groundies were very accurate, she only made one really bad mistake but every other rally she was quite solid.

Doesnt serve many doubles, but her serve lacks pace!

she was still coughing and seems she still has the flu.

Good luck to the Aussie and Balkan girls!
