Only months after your post Ana Ivanovic have 2544 points (about 200 more than JJ have before 30 days). But Jelena won Rome and reach RG SF and she have 3115 points right now...

To be close to Jelena Ana now need to overtake Kuznetsova and Mauresmo (about 250pts bouth). Mauresmo is Wimbledon defending champion and Ana is in better shape than Sveta!

Ana has a really good chance to be inside Top5 after grass season.

Only Serena can prevent Ana from getting to Top5. She needs to get to the SF at least and Ana would have to lose very early for that to happen.

Ana Ivanović.

Re: Fight for Serbian #1

If Ana win tommorow against Venus, difference between Jeca and Anci will be less than 100 points (3241 vs. 3148) and if not about 350 points (Jelena will be still #3 and Ana #5 if lose SF).

Re: Fight for Serbian #1

If Ana Ivanovic reach YEC final (need to win against Masha and Anna), she will be again best ranked Serbian player (after about 13 months)! If not - that means that JJ safe her SRB#1 position whole this year.

Re: Fight for Serbian #1

YEAR END RANKING:

3 (SER#1) JANKOVIC, JELENA SRB 3475 (28)
4 (SER#2) IVANOVIC, ANA SRB 3461 (20)

JJ survive whole 2007 at Serbian #1 place (but Ana is almost of time very close, and finished season with only 14 pts less than Jelena).

First big chalange for Jelena is already in Sydnay where JJ is defending runnerup - so Ana will probably overtake her already before AO.

Re: Fight for Serbian #1

Next monday (January 14), after about 15 months (more than 60 weeks) Ana will be again serbian best (ranked) player!

Next check-point: Australian Open (Jelena need 2 rounds better result than Ana or only one round better result if both reach atleast QF.

Re: Fight for Serbian #1

And what about points from Tokyo? Ana defends 300 points from there, when will those points be deleted?

Ana Ivanovic

Jelena Jankovic

Vojislava Lukic

Good luck to: Davenport, Srebotnik, Kirilenko, Kostanic, Mirza and Serbian DC squad (Djokovic, Tipsarevic, Zimonjic, Bozoljac, Pashanski and Troicki)

They will be taken off in February despite the tournament being moved.
