Re: Fight for Serbian #1

After just one week pause, Jelena Jankovic will be again best ranked Serbian player in Monday, august 19th!
Except next week, Jelena will be for sure SRB#1 ranked during US Open, and difference between two Serbs players when we cut-off 2012 North American Hardcourts results is at least 350pts in JJ favor (if she beat Vinci tomorrow - at least 450 pts), which means Ana needs much better results than Jelena till end of this season to overtake Jankovic again in this calender year.

CURRENT LEADERSHIP STANDINGS:
Code:
ALL CHANGES
10-Feb-2003	Jelena Dokic 83 weeks
13-Sep-2004	Jelena Jankovic 50 weeks
29-Aug-2005	Ana Ivanovic 2 weeks
12-Sep-2005	Jelena Jankovic 1 week
19-Sep-2005	Ana Ivanovic 57 weeks
23-Oct-2006	Jelena Jankovic 64 weeks
14-Jan-2008	Ana Ivanovic 30 weeks

19-Aug-2013	Jelena Jankovic 3* weeks

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

After exactly one whole year change on Serbian #1 spot will happens tomorrow most likely. For that Ana needs to Win and Jelena to lose hers Cincinnati QF match - but Ana's opponent is young Svitolina, and JJ will face Serena Williams, so that is reason why change seems so realistic. For Ana it will be perfect timing to grab SRB #1 spot, because together with comeback on SRB#1 and WTA TOP10 - she will reach TOP8 seeds status at upcoming US Open (TOP8 seed at slam for the first time since RG2009).

But no matter whats happen tomorrow, in next Monday Serbia will be again only nation with 2 WTA TOP10 players (except in case Wozniacki winning Cincinnati title).

Re: Fight for Serbian #1

Jelena has had problems with Serenas game not a good match up but she beat Stephens twice in a row, lets make the decision who is in better form where it matters...us open...

as for marias comments "check her bloodpressure" to the umpire about ana, is she serious? she is the one who sounds like a pig being slaughtered when she hits the ball AND often does not need to grunt in practice
#classy maria

Good luck to the Aussie and Balkan girls!

Re: Fight for Serbian #1

BUMP alert for this "historic" thread at very end of this 2015 season which Ivanovic spent for most of the year far ahead Jankovic, but now after very successful episodes on couple of Chinese tournaments Jankovic has chance in Luxembourg to bring very close to Ana, and than to back again in China, Zhuhai, (unofficially Ivanovic which also qualified will not play there at all) with chance to overtake Ivanovic in best possible moment (at end of the season which will guaranty Jelena 10+ new weeks at SRB#1 position).

Interesting that Ivanovic longest reign at SRB#1 is from 2012-2013 and last 66 weeks, but if Jelena broke Ana's current strike after Zhuhai (Nov 9) it will be shorter for a just two weeks (64 weeks in the row). If Jelena fall to overtake Ana at end of this season current Ana strike will be longer than 70 weeks, but on other hand Jankovic will have great opportunity to overtake Ana already before AO/2016 because Ivanovic defending there Brisbane final and JJ don't defending anything.

Projection for Year Ending Ranking (Current ranking with cut-off of 2014 YEC points):
Ana Ivanovic 2645
Jelena Jankovic 2345/2395/2465/2565 (depending on hers Luxembourg result) + Zhuhai points (minimum 120 for all RR loses, 200/240 for SF, 400/440 for F, 660/700 for W).

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is
