Don't be too quick to judge Peng Sun. When the HC first started, Paul McNamee chose a little-known Japanese boy named Yasufumi Yamamoto to play for Japan. Everyone thought he was going to be a shit player but turned out to be a really fantastic player. He lacked experience on the ATP Tour but took Top 10 player, Karel Novacek, to the brink of defeat, holding two match points. It was later revealed that the Japanese men tend not to travel too far out of Japan to play because the Japanese men have their very own lucrative domestic tennis circuit.
Paul McNamee doesn't just choose any old nobody for the sake of it. The players he chooses usually have the talent to be in the competition, otherwise they wouldn't be invited to play in the first place.
That said, I like a lot of players this year! Marat Safin, Nicolas Kiefer, Gaston Gaudio, Max Mirnyi - I think I'm going to die and go to heaven! I have been waiting YEARS for Nico to play! Finally! I am so going this year.
Out of the women, I'm looking forward to seeing Ana Ivanovic, Shuai Peng and Victoria Azarenka. I can't believe they asked Vika to play! And she doesn't need to qualify either! How sucky for the Dutch having to play qualifying AGAIN.
I can't believe they scored Taylor Dent! He has a shitload of Adelaide points to defend. I wonder why the Slovaks pulled out? Hrbaty even talked about wearing his peek-a-boo shirt in Perth. What a kidder. Oh, word is that Serena Williams was down to play but pulled out last week, leaving the spot open for Lisa Raymond. The USA were going to be seeded 2 until Serena's withdrawal.
