Three Canadians set for main draw action at Bell Challenge
Pelletier, Marois, Dubois set to do battle in Quebec City at Tier III event
The official draw was held today for the Bell Challenge in Quebec City at Restaurant La Galerie. Top seed Mary Pierce of France leads the 30 player draw November 1st – 7th at the Club Avantage Multi-Sports de Québec.
Three Canadians are entered into the main draw. Seventeen year-old Stephanie Dubois of Laval is making her first appearance at the event. The Quebec native is joined by wildcards Melanie Marois of Sainte-Foy and Marie-Eve Pelletier of Repentigny, both competing in the event for the fifth time.
Dubois, who will celebrate her 18th birthday on Halloween, will face Tzipora Obziler of Israel in the first round. Pelletier, Canada’s top ranked player, will meet American Shenay Perry while Marois squares off against Martina Sucha of Slovakia.
Other notable players in the draw include No. 2 seed Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, Americans Mashona Washington and Jill Craybas, the third and fourth seeds and No. 6 Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand.
