Can we bring food this year on the site?

Or do they arrest us if we're evil enough to have a bag of chips or a cookie on us.

I got my answer:

Food Prohibited (except in small quantities, or for medical, dietary or infant purposes).

I wonder what they mean by "small quantities". It could mean anything.

I assume that means that you can't bring in an entire cooler

I will bring some energy bars and maybe a bagel. I'm hypogycemic. If they want me passing out at their matches and giving them bad press, well, that is their call.

If the food prices weren't so ridiculous I wouldn't mind their food policy.

I'm sure they do mean large cooler-sized portions. I plan to bring at least a sandwich and water - they can't arrest me for that

Yeah... Surely they aren't going to refuse people in with a backpack, they just have to check it.

IIRC, last year they allowed each person to bring in a sandwich and a bottled water, or something like that. It's a good idea to bring your own water. A bottled water costs around $3 on the ground, which is the biggest rip-off of all.

Cool

I brought food last year and will bring some this year too. I guess it was in the range of what they said on the website:

http://www.usopen.org/en_US/about/security.html

All bags are subject to search and must not be larger than 12"Wx12"Hx16"L.
Food (except in small quantities, or for medical, dietary or infant purposes)

It was some sandwiches, bottled water and chips.

Love and Bagels - What more could a sport offer!

strict

The security guys have been instructed to be extra strict this year. I work on site and when the tournament starts, they are even going to search every car's trunk AND look underneath it with mirrors. (this is for cars parked in one of the lots). We aren't even exactly sure what the food allowance is, but just don't bring a cooler.
