The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) - Qualified for Singapore!!

WUHAN
BEIJING
TIANJIN

then maybe WC for Moscow?
Still chances for Singapore but more likely that she will be in Zhuhai

Anyway, today she was in action in Wuhan and won against Bencic 63 34 ret.
Next up Watson/Brengle, she surely should be able to beat both of those, then probably Venus, which would be an interesting match for sure.

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) 1st stop WUHAN, beat Bencic 63 34 ret.

beat Brengle easily 60 64
Only got broken once in 2nd set, good stats, not much to complain about.

Venus next, first meeting since 2009, H2h 4-4, strange that those two ladies did not meet for 7 years!
Interesting battle, outcome is tough to predict, Venus has more power and will surely try to keep the points short, go to the net often but Sveta has the better stamina and movement.
Venus' serve is the bigger weapon usually but it often does not work lately, I think that will be the deciding point anyway, Sveta will have more chances if Venus serves bad, otherwise Venus could have the advantage, we´ll see...

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) 1st stop WUHAN, beat Venus 62 62, QF n

beat Venus easily 62 62

Shame that Venus had one of her typical Sjögren days, I wanted a more interesting battle here but Sveta played well and good that she was able to save some energy,
A.Rad or Woz next, probably a long match in which she will have her chances but it will depend on her mental strength as well and hopefully her 1st serve will be a weapn at least at times as well.

beat Radwanska 16 76(9) 64

MP down in 2nd set already in the TB, good fight from her, a bit too defensive as often from what I saw but nice that she was able to turn it around for a change, good tournament!

Cibulkova next, another tough opponent, hope she can win it again!

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) 1st stop WUHAN, beat Venus 62 62, QF n

63 36 46 to Cibulkova

the tough fight, as expected, got broken to love in the end at *45!

Shame that she lost it, had her chances here as well, final would have been important but in general she has to be satisfied with the result here...

Beijing next

1st round: (9) Kuznetsova vs. BYE
2nd round: Doi/Qualifier
3rd round: Keys/Mladenovic/JJ

She surely should be able to beat Doi or Q, then it would get interesting, hope she can recover and is at 100% for Beijing

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) 1st stop WUHAN | SF lost to Cibulkova

beat Doi 61 75!

Keys next, then Muguruza or more likely Kvitova, important matches, she has to win both of those if she wants to have a chance for the YEC still but it will be quite tough obviously.

I hope she does not get too passive against Keys, she has to try to be aggressive herself to have a chance!

I hope that there will be some more people again who post in here, Sveta has her own subforum, so we should use it, otherwise she might lose it soon.....

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) 2nd stop Beijing | 3rd round vs Keys!!

lost 67 26 to Keys!

That was probably the last chance to get to Singapore and as usual she wasted it with a big choke!
*52 ahead in 1st set and then she got broken twice, suddenly tons of DFs and no chance then anymore in 2nd set....

She is playing a good season in general but those chokes kill her over and over again still..

WTA TIANJIN

[2] KUZNETSOVA def. PARMENTIER 6/1 6/3

Not sure how motivated Sveta is but good first win here!
Vekic next, powerful and dangerous on a good day but normally she will be too inconsistent for Sveta, Shvedova in QF could be really tricky then, she is in good shape lately.

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) WTA TIANJIN 2nd round vs. VEKIC

won 75 64 against Vekic!

Many ups and downs again as usual, especially in 1st set but got the job done in two sets, that´s good!

Osaka next, not Shvedova, that will be tough also but I hope that Sveta will be too experienced and consistent in that match also but we´ll see, good playing Osaka can be really dangerous, good luck!!

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) WTA TIANJIN 2nd round vs. VEKIC

Nice fight!

26 64 76!

Osaka played a great first set, great game she has when she is on but yet not experienced enough, good fight from Sveta, always nice to win after MPs down!

Peng vs. Kovinic in the other SF, Sveta herself plays against Riske, she should win the title now IMO, go for it!!

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) WTA TIANJIN SF vs. Riske

typical for Sveta, whenever you think that she has good chances now to win the whole tournament she loses...

46 75 46 to Riske!
Riske served for it in the 2nd set already but Sveta came back, still not enough, disappointing a bit for sure, H2h was 4-0 before....

Took a WC into Moscow, a good draw there as well after a 1st round BYE, we´ll see

Re: The last tournaments in 2016 (ASIAN SWING) WTA TIANJIN SF lost to Riske

Moscow

1st round: BYE
2nd round: def. Cornet 64 75

Not always pretty but enough to beat Cornet!

Sveta still has a chance for the last Singapore spot but she has to win Moscow!

QF vs. Babos
SF vs. Konjuh/Svitolina
Final vs. probably Pavlyuchenkova/Kasatkina/Gavrilova

It´s possible but it will be tough, much pressure on Sveta, we´ll see how it goes, Babos next, who can be pretty tough but also one who often struggles with consistency.

won against Babos and Svitolina in three sets, followed by an easy 62 61 win over Gavrilova!
Congrats Sveta on winning the title and on qualifying for Singapore, well done, who would have thought that she would be able to qualify again for this event, she really used her last chance and of course, a bit lucky also that Serena withdrew.
