Full schedule for Svetlana!
Last year she gave walkover in Washington 2nd round and couldnŽt play any tournaments afterwards, then lost first round in NY to Mladenovic, so no points to defend, she can only climb the rankings further from now on again!!
Sveta is on 11th position right now, CSN and Cibulkova not far away, maybe she can rise to 9th position and get the top 8 seeding for NY!! (Azarenka ahead of her obviously wonŽt play)
I couldnŽt watch much but what I saw was quite good, Petra hit some great winners but also many UEs and SvetaŽs game was really good today, made it tough for Kvitova and she tried to be aggressive herself also, I liked what I saw!!
Good season in general for Sveta, some worse results in between but she can be really happy in general with 4th round at Wimbledon/RG, Sydney title, Miami finale, Prague SF and Rome QF...
Good chances to be back in top 10 after Montreal, maybe even on 9th position but it will depend on Keys and Konta as well now.
Halep next, I expect a tough and close match, beat her again!!
(8)Kuznetsova v Wang
Niculescu v Cepede Royg
Garcia v Pereira
Vogt v (10)Konta
(13)Stosur v Ostapenko
Doi v Voskoboeva
Bouchard v Stephens
Duque Marino v (2)Kerber
There was a 50% chance of meeting Serena in the QFs but Sveta got lucky and is in the half of Kerber now!
Not a bad draw at all, Konta is the first tricky opponent but Sveta can win that also, H2h against Kerber is slighty positive also, hope she can go far!!
typical Sveta scoreline
2nd set she was break ahead 3 times but lost the set in the end and then again she barely lost points in 3rd set.
She has to get more consistent in general, at times her serve works fine and she is aggressive enough, then again she gets too passive and is not able to put any pressure on her opponents but that win today was never in doubt.
Niculescu next, they never met but Sveta should be experienced enough to handle NiculescuŽs gamestyle, normally Niculescu canŽt hurt Sveta with anything except for her slicing, should be a two sets win ...hopefully!
disappointing result, had the 63 20 lead and the *32 in 3rd set also!
I watched the end and it was just not good, she was totally tight and had a really bad service game at *32, incl DFs, bad movement and UEs, in general too passive as often and tons of wasted chances also, Konta allowed Sveta to come back from 35 to 55 but Sveta wasted again BPs at 5-5.
In the end it was just the same as often, SvetaŽs serve is no weapon, her game is too passive and she is mentally not strong enough, that way you just canŽt win big matches unfortunately!
beat Riske and Bacsinszky in three sets!
QF against Pliskova, hope that she will play aggressive enough, she has to put pressure on Pliskova, move her around, get into the rallies, weŽll see how it goes!!
