Sveta on European Clay | Roland Garros | ByeBye in 4th round, lost to Muguruza 36 46

Prague
Madrid
Rome
Paris

3 tournaments in a row for Sveta, then one week off and then RG, tough schedule for her, we´ll see how she will do!

Prague

(1)Kuznetsova v Sasnovich
Brengle v Broady
Q v Puig
Kontaveit v (7)Cibulkova

QF shouldn´t be a bigger problem, then obviously a good first test against probably Cibulkova.

Re: Sveta on European Clay | 1st tournament: Prague as first seed vs.Sasnovich

won 60 57 61

strange scoreline, was leading 60 *21 and then started to struggle a lot just to win 6 games in a row in 3rd set again, I could not watch it, no clue what happened but seems liks she was able to play two good sets at least, conditions in Prague must be awful anyway

Brengle next, the American is really consistent and all but has no bigger weapons, Sveta should really win this as well, good luck!!

yeah, conditions are terrible, players are frozen, it's unbelievable cold.
Sveta tried to keep her hands hot with thermal lamp, her match was last of the day and started in evening which was really tough and
she seemed to be cold.

I hope it will be better today and I also hope she won't be ill

Re: Sveta on European Clay | 1st stop in Prague: 2nd round vs. Brengle

won 57 64 63!

I was able to watch the 2nd set from 5-0 to 6-4, obviously not a good timing as Sveta really did not play good there!
Brengle tried to keep playing on Sveta´s backhand and Sveta was way too passive there and it is never a good sign when someone like Brengle is more aggressive than you are, fh was ok but also some mistakes there, serve was not really effective and she almost screwed it totally as Brengle was close to get it to 5-5 in 2nd set.
She was a bit more aggressive on return at 54* at least, finally put more pressure on Brengle there and the serve from the American is really a weakness, so Sveta just had to go for her shots there.
But it obviously is not easy to play with much power and pressure on such a slow clay court, looked so cold again there today, next up is Puig, another tough opponent, hope that Sveta can improve, good luck!

I watched the match, Brengle played great, her every shot was good, made only few mistakes, was able to return everything to Sveta's side with accurancy...

I was sure Sveta had been on fire at 5:0 and it would had been an easy work but my mistake.
At least she broke to win 6:4. One fast rebreak to 1:1 and than one more complication at *4:2 when she was unable to hold.
A win's a win. I'm glad she won, the conditions were tough again (cold, windy, slow clay).

Next opponent is Puig, it could be a win or lose. Can't say. I still hope she can improve and it'll be good clay season for her.

Re: Sveta on European Clay | 1st stop in Prague: QF vs. Puig

To be honest I don't really care for this tournament - awful conditions and the big points are up for grabs in the next 2 weeks. Might be better for Sveta to just lose and move on, she's already had 2 long matches here

Re: Sveta on European Clay | 1st stop in Prague: QF vs. Puig

scoreline was 46 75 64!
Good fight again but I am worried that her battery will be empty for Madrid, so not sure what to think of it, Stosur is waiting in the SF, probably another long match to come..just hope that she will have enough energy for both, or that she has at least a good tournament in Rome then, if too tired for Madrid..
It´s just important for Sveta to go to RG with a good feeling and a good seeding...

11 aces today btw but she still won only 58% of the pts over 1st serve (61% over 2nd serve) but I could not watch it today, so can´t say more.

Re: Sveta on European Clay | 1st stop in Prague: SF vs. Stosur

Win in 2 or lose in 2 tomorrow Queen. Stosur played 3hours in her QF so I'm pretty sure whoever loses the first set will tank and get ready for Madrid

Re: Sveta on European Clay | 1st stop in Prague: SF vs. Stosur

withdrew from her SF against Stosur!
not sure about the reason yet, I guess/hope that she just wants to make sure to be fit for Madrid.

1st round in Madrid would be vs. a Qualifier

Re: Sveta on European Clay | 1st stop in Prague: SF vs. Stosur (withdrawn)

She was on court to say that her injury is painful and she needs to w/o.
She said that it was a great tournament and was looking forward to next year.

Re: Sveta on European Clay | 1st stop in Prague: SF vs. Stosur (withdrawn)

first round vs Siegemund tomorrow!

Not sure what to expect, hopefully Sveta will be healthy, Laura retired in doubles today also, played many matches recently, so we´ll see if she is fit also.
Sveta did not impress me that much in Prague, hope she can improve here, she obviously should be able to beat Siegemund but Laura is in good shape and full of confidence, so Sveta has to be ready, otherwise...

Re: Sveta on European Clay | Madrid | 1st round vs. Siegemund

Sveta can't serve, her injury is really limiting her...

she shouldn't have played here

I guess she plays only cause of defending her final, but it wasn't best idea

let's hope she'll be ok soon, RG is approaching
