Arantxa is REALLY back!

WOW! When I enterred home, the firts thing I did is going on the comp to see if my lovely Arantxa won her doubles...and guess what? I had a marvellous surprise lol ! Really good, isn't it?

As far as I'm concerned, I think that Arantxa and Mary really have a chance to win this tournament...

What do you think?

Vamos Arantxa! Keep on!

Well of COURSE I think they can and SHOULD win the title -- Arantxa has had pretty good luck in Berlin (stats people, I know she won the one singles title in 1995; how many dubs titles does she have here?). The next match agst Sveta/Elena L. might be one of the toughest and then also Vivi/Poli should they get that far.

PS--Alex, is that you here? Did you get my e-mail?

Hi!

I wasn't so sure if it was a good decision to come back for the Olympics. I don't want to see Arantxa lose early...but now as I have seen photos of her having fun with Mary on the court and even winning their first match I feel like: What the hell! If she wants to do this, let's simply enjoy to have her back! She also looks younger than a year before...if that is possible...
Vamos Arantxa!

Hi Marsha!

Monica announced her official retirement on February 14, 2008. What a sad day! I'm proud to be a Selestial and I admire Monica for her fighting spirit and her character.
The tennis world has lost one of the greatest players of all time! Have a wonderful post-tennis life!

Arantxa, you will always be in my heart. Thanks for all the great matches you gave us and for just being a wonderful person on and off court.
All the best for your future!

There was another thread on this, Botas -- which said that she asked for a wildcard to enter Rome next week (but hasn't heard yet) and then *might* play in the Netherlands, Italy again (Palermo), or Stockholm so she can play some with Anabel (although now she may partner with Magui for the Olympics-??)

She will still *definitely* be playing mixed doubles at the French Open and Wimbledon with Todd Woofbridge "just for fun".

PS -- If you are an Arantxa fan, you can get on the fan's mailing list and hear about whatever we know as soon as we know it -- just e-mail me at cmstrong@hotmail.com

Oh I so agree! I think it's prolly cuz of the time change/jet lag thingee that she would not want to. But you know Mointreal would give her SUCH a great reception. Maybe we could flood her e-mail (meaning the e-mail to Emilio's academy, which I think does reach her) with requests for her to play Montreal -- think it's worth a try?

Marsha, what a great idea...you probably remember 2 years ago when I came to Montreal and I was supposed to meet her....but I just didn't! This summer would surely be my last chance... Let's do what you said!

Ok I'll "mobilize" the troops -- by that I mean send out an e-mail to at least the North-Americans on the list -- if anyone else here wants to join this effort, e-mail me at cmstrong@minspring.com and put at least "Arantxa" for a subject line.
