Nastya has really been seriously stepping up in terms of results over the last few months, really turning her year around after a very unconvincing start.
She's 17 (born January 8, 1998) from Donetsk; she started 2015 outside of the Top 400, at #421 and last week she broke into the Top 100 for the very first time, reaching a new CHR of 82 (+45).
She's won 1 tournament this year so far: G4 Moravia Steel Sparta Cup, where she was the top seed and beat 4th seed Weronika Jasmina Forys, 2 & 2 in the final.
I believe this win gave her a lot of confidence, because the week after she made the final of G1 ITF Junior Open Linz right from the qualies (she lost to 14th seed Georgia Andreea Craciun, 1-6 6-3 6-7(5) in the final
She also made the final of G2 Budaors Cup two weeks ago (she was the 8th seed, lost to 6th seed Hana Mraz in the final, 5-7 3-6
), and the final of G2 Hungarian Open last week (she was the 6th seed, lost to 3rd seed and fellow Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska in the final, 2-6 6-2 4-6
Hope she won't be too disheartened at losing 3 close finals, if she keeps improving like she's been doing she should win them soon.
Nastya got wins over Nina Potocnik (#76), Valeriya Zeleva (#61), Lucie Kankova (#82), Jade Lewis, Ioana Minca (#69) and also Jaimee Fourlis and Jade Lewis who now are in the Top 100.
She also tried 2 pro tournaments this summer: 10K Parnu, where she qualified and beat (6)Daria Lodikova (WTA 705) 6-3 7-5 in R1, lost to (Q)Joana Eidukonyte 1-6 6-2 3-6 in R2; and 25K Hechingen, where she lost a close Q2 match against (7)Anastasia Grymalska (WTA 431) 6-7(1) 6-4 3-6.
Looking at the Junior USO EL, it looks like she withdrew, too bad.
I wonder why.
But hopefully we'll see her in Slams next year, and maybe as a direct MD entry.
