Re: Fed Cup 2011

Njiric lost to Watson (WTA #142) 6:2, 7:5 - not really a surprise. Let's hope Ajla can cause an upset against Baltacha. Now that would be really something, ha

Re: Fed Cup 2011

So Ajla is playing Baltacha, right?
I heard she injured herself, she didn't play in the previous ties against Switzerland and Denmark.
Ajla has all the chances.

Re: Fed Cup 2011

Looks like she had no chance after all, lost 2 and 3 But it was a valuable learning experience for Ajla I'm sure, cause Baltacha is top60 right now. Hope Ajla took something from that match.

Re: Fed Cup 2011

I think next year Croatia should play with Lucic, Sprem, Martic, and Tomljanovic

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

Re: Fed Cup 2011

Goran Prpić is no longer Fed Cup captain.
I never liked him, he was so lifeless and often with very bad decisions IMO.
Names who are mentioned for new captain are Majoli, Krajan, Kostanić and someone else who I forgot.

Apparently players do not want Iva as captain, some said they will not play if she gets that role.
I wonder who said that.

Re: Fed Cup 2011

Yeah, Croatia could have done so much better.
We'll see next year how it goes.

Re: Fed Cup 2011

I heard the news about Prpic several days ago but somehow forgot to post here... (sorry) He resigned from both positions, that of FC captain as well as that of the DC captain. Ivanisevic will most likely replace him in the Davis cup (as requested by the players), but it'll be interesting to hear who'll fill his shoes in the Fed cup team. With all due respect to Prpic, I seriously think Krajan could've done a better job; not so sure about Majoli or Kostanic though. We'll see.

Re: Fed Cup 2011

I would personally put Krajan as the coach. He seems to have talent for the job, give him free hands and time and i think he could return us to world group someday.

Re: Fed Cup 2011

Urszula Radwanska just claimed she's gonna have a new coach from Croatia so it suits easily for me it will be Prpić.
