I hope that she'll think once again about that going back to college this year...

Ani, fuck the education, play tennis, we need you

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread

I looked at their records, and so far Ani is slightly ahead of where Pandzic was after six tournaments during their respective comebacks (and if she wins tomorrow in Maribor she'll be *well* ahead). Hopefully this means that Ani can get into the top 200, like Pandzic did, and maybe even into the top 100. Another excellent sign is that Ani is more than two years younger than Pandzic was when she started her comeback in 2007.

The sad news is that Ani is not on any entry lists for next week or the week after so it looks like she's going back to the U.S. for her last year of college. No Ani for the next nine months

Hopefully when she comes back she can pick up where she left off. At least she'll have a top 500/low 500's ranking so she'll no longer need to play $10K qualies.

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread

Congrats on the doubles title

Such a shame if she choses not to continue this comeback - she seems to be a real prospect But OK, she's still young, if her studies don't stretch for too long she could still have a nice career afterwards.

She plays singles QF today.

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread

The good news is that Ani won her QF match (though with an odd scoreline: defeated Dia EVTIMOVA 36 60 60).

The bad news is that she lost her SF match. The (other) good news is that the loss was to the top seed, Katalin MAROSI (#184, career-hgih 101), and that Ani kept it extremely close: 46 76(1) 75 (Marosi won 18 games, Ani won 17).

This was Ani's best tournament yet, at least in terms of points. She'll move into the top 500, at ~485-490.

Her W-L record this summer was 28-4 in singles (won two $10Ks) and 9-2 in doubles (won two $10Ks).

Good luck to Ani in her last year in college and please come back next year!

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread

very close vs. marosi. marosi is probably the best player ani has ever played so i'm sure it will be even better next time. i wonder if she quit college cause there's some ncaa fall tournaments starting about now

ugh, why do they all suck????????

The bad news is that Ani withdrew from the Naples entry list this past weekend.

The good news is that she's now an alternate on the entry list for an even bigger tournament the same week, the $50,000+H in Mestre! She's currently the 14th alternate so it's questionable if she'll make the qualifying draw but at least it looks like she's planning to play.

She has moved up to 7th already so now it's looking like she's going to make it after all.
