Fed Cup 2009

After the incredible 12 years(i think) survival in the World group, our heroines () are to play in February in Estonia within the Euro/African zone I, together with 15 other countries (Austria, Belarus, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Great Britain, Hungary, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden).
The teams will be divided in groups and it will really be hard for anyone to promote (back)into the World group.

What is funny is that our team is the best ranked of all above mentioned (19.) and that we are, as far as I saw on some foreign portals, declared as one of favorites

Well, we are in better position with players than it was case in last years, but can hello, potential rivals are Radwanskas, Wozniacki, Kanepi, Szavay, Paszek, Cirstea, Azarenka etc...).

I would call only Sprem and Martic in team (and eventually Savic), since there is no other player capable of playing (with all due respect)... But question remains, who will Prpa invite and who will accept to play...

So, what do you think ?

Re: Fed Cup 2009

Kostanic deserved to be called, but I would let her play only maybe doubles. Besides her I would could Sprem, Martic and Savic..

Re: Fed Cup 2009

We aren't going to qualify. If I were Prpic, I'd call Martic, Tinjic, Tomljanovic, and Mrdeza to give them some experience and maybe make a real player out of at least one of them in the future.

ugh, why do they all suck????????

Definitely Sprem, Martic and Savic, and the fourth girl maybe Tomljanovic or the girl who played doubles with Karolina when we beat Argentina, Mezak i think!

Re: Fed Cup 2009

Kostanic, Martic, Savic and Jurak (cause she and Kostanic would make a really good doubles team).

Pandzic is currently out of form, Sprem plays good once a month (sorry, couldn't resist), Mamic once a year, Ozegovic is out of this planet at the moment, Vrljic hasn't played much lately, Lucic did (no other comment necessary), Abramovic seems to have some injury issues and so on.

Hope they postpone Fed Cup until next year

Re: Fed Cup 2009

I'd choose:
-Kostanic Tosic
-Sprem
-Mamic
-Savic

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.

Greece is already there
I have no idea why we always have unranked players play, when there are so many ranked players (e.g.Kontratevidi, Fafaliou, Daniilidou, Papamichail) who don't play

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.

Re: Fed Cup 2009

no sprem
martic is gonna have to have a great week and kostanic must be solid in doubles just for us to have a chance of staying in the zone

ugh, why do they all suck????????

Not so sure about that. We should be able to beat Bulgaria. Yes, they have Pironkova, but that's their only player in the top #400. If we win, we get to stay in zone I for one more year.

By the way, it's not just Euro, it's Euro/Africa...

Re: Fed Cup 2009

Martic lost to Ani in 3sets (ofcourse)
Mamic lost to Kanepi 6:3 6:0

What's with Kostanic?!? Maybe she would get one game more
