Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread

Anyone knows why she's not in Australia? She lost in some French 25k QR1 this past weekend, but why on Earth would she play that when she could've been in the doubles main draw in Melbourne

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread

After two less then impressive wins, 2nd seeds Jurak/Savinykh are in the semis of $25,000 Andrezieux-Boutheon, and there will face the 4th seeds Laine/South. But nothing except winning a title here would get Darija any extra ranking points... Last year 1st tournament of the season for Darija was WTA Paris, so it's probably safe to assume she plans to go there this time around as well (that's probably why she's playing in France at this time of year).

Good luck!

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread

After taking out Laine/South in 3, Jurak/Savinykh beat the unseeded Bertens/Hogenkamp 6:3, 7:6 to take the title

Another job well done for Darija

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread

Darija suffered what could be described as a humiliating defeat in QR1 of Sutton 25k (losing as a 7th seed to a former #107 but current #724 Klapkova, 6:0, 6:3), but is now doing quite good in doubles. She and Domachowska are the 2nd seeds, and after a bye in R1, they scraped a three set win over some British team. In the semis they'll face...another British team (Murray/Richards), who beat the 4th seeds Klaschka/Ozga in straights in the previous round. Don't know if Darija can actually benefit from this category of events anymore in doubles (except financially), but wish her all the best anyway.

Semifinal
LAINE (FIN) / SOUTH (GBR) (1) defeated TAMAELA (NED) / YAKIMOVA (BLR) (3) 6-7(1) 6-4 [10-8]
DOMACHOWSKA (POL) / JURAK (CRO) (2) defeated MURRAY (GBR) / RICHARDS (GBR) 6-2 6-0

Final
LAINE (FIN) / SOUTH (GBR) (1) Vs DOMACHOWSKA (POL) / JURAK (CRO) (2)

Darija can still benefit but only by winning the final and only by 10 points.

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread

Darija will (tomorrow) play the quarterfinals of doubles on a WTA tournament in Marbella. She teamed up with M. Jugic-Salkic (they're almost a regular doubles team now), and they won R1 against Senoglu/Zakopalova 6:3, 6:4. Next they'll face the 3rd seeds Llagostera Vives/Parra Santonja, who needed 3 sets to overcame the first hurdle in the form of Daniilidou/Panova.

The winner of that one will face the winner of Barrois/Woehr vs. (2) Safina/Szavay in the semis.

Hope the girls find some form soon, cause this time last year they were doing quite good. During the last week of April these two teamed up to win a 100k in France, and then went on to reach the semis of Estoril WTA, so they'll be defending 280 points (each) from those two events (so far here they got 30).

Good luck girls

Re: Darija Jurak cheering thread

Safina/Szavay are through to the semis, but Dinara just pulled out of her singles match, which could mean she'll probably withdraw from doubles too. That would be a great chance for Darija and Mervana, but, of course, first they have to beat the Spaniards, which is no easy task.
