Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

Tereza lost 46 in the third. Not bad considering Luzhanska is #158.

Better luck next week!

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

The bad news is that it's starting to get hard for Tereza to move up the rankings.

Up to this week her 16th best result was 6 points. By winning one match in Pelham she earned 8 points but only 2 countable ones (8 minus 6).

After this week her 16th best result is 8 points. That means next time she plays a $25K she needs to reach at least the QF (14 points) to get countable points--and then she'll get only 6 points (14 minus 8).

It would be awesome if she got into RG qualies and then won one match. That would be worth 40 points

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

She is nice girl, hard worker, but unfortunately with lack of tennis talent for top 100. I hope that she will deny this statement.

It seems you were right about Luzhanska's form. In the next round she lost to Gallovits-Hall 0 and 1. Makes Tereza's loss look bad

Tereza qualified for this week's $25K Chiasso. In the final round of qualifying she beat former world junior #1 Gavrilova

That's nice! Sure, Gavrilova is inexperienced and not exactly playing great lately, but still a well known name on the ITF circuit.

Keep it up Tereza!

In MD R1 Tereza beat the #2 seed, Yvonne Meusburger, 76(5) 36 63

This is a nice win for Tereza; Meusburger has been in a slump but, still, she's #132 in the world (CH #60).

In R2 she plays Kontaveit, a 16 year old who seems headed to the top (she has won her last three $10Ks).

Good luck, Tereza!

A wonderful start in the main draw; can't get much better than that!

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

Tereza seems to be on the upswing. Meusburger (#132) is the highest-ranked player she has ever beaten. Also, it's Tereza's second top-150 win ever--and the other one was justa little over a month ago (Larcher de Brito, #139).

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

Tereza MRDEZA (CRO) def. Anett KONTAVEIT (EST) 26 63 62

Nice recovery, too, after losing the first set 26.

Tereza now has a decent chance to reach the SF. In the QF she plays Vogt, who beat the #7 seed Larriere. Vogt is ranked a little bit lower than Tereza.

Re: Tereza Mrdeza cheering thread

^ By the way, this should bring Tereza to a new CH ranking, in the 220s.
