Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!
Just so disappointing. She's obviously mentally weak and her team should think about getting her a sports psychologist before it's too late. She is still to beat a top100 player on Tour and this was a golden opportunity.
I hope she's furious with herself about this, cause otherwise I wonder what her future in tennis is. If she hopes to be the next Kournikova and earn her money through endorsments...well, I sure hope that's not the plan. Besides, even Kournikova was a decent (top10, doubles slam champion) tennis player. Ajla is still far from that I'm afraid.
Oh and, if she thinks people will give her wild-cards until the end of time, she can forget about it. Next year she'll turn 19, and some 16 y.o. kid with a good junior record will come along asking for them - guess which one will get them?
Her story is becoming incresingly similar to that of Michelle Larcher De Brito - a future tennis superstar who reached the best ranking of #76 at an early age, only to slump backwards after that. The difference is, Ajla hasn't reached top 80, hasn't even come close.
All in all, I really wonder what her plans are now. Going back to ITF circuit and trying to find some form would be best IMO, but of course, my opinion is not the one that counts. Let's hope there are some people of good judgement in her camp, cause she definately can play, but something is very wrong at the moment.
Fingers crossed that it all turns out for the best.
