Ajla is on a roll, and at just the right time A tough win, but it's against someone who's also on a career-high ranking, and almost a top100. Now it's either the top seed Hradecka (#78, career high #56), or unseeded Dentoni (#184, career high #132). Either way it's another great result for Ajla and a big step forward.
Yup, and all this means less and less challengers, i.e. more and more tour events. If only there were no age limitations made by the ITF (or WTA...?), she'd probably advance even faster. And let's not forget that she didn't get as many wild-cards as some other girls her age, or some other who are now great players, during their respective developments.
Ajla lost in final 6/1 7/6.
had many opportunities in second set TB but overal played bad and made many UEs.
Her serve was terrible, second serve not existant.
Forehand was terrible, don't think she managed to return any ball with pace from that side without hitting or moonballing it short.
Her backhand is great shot, can hit some great winners of it.
Hopefully this was just bad day regarding forehand and serve.
Ajla looks imazing!
She is already a star for me. When you just see her walking you can tell she's got something in herself. Her english is perfect
And about game, she will fix that with time. Her fh and serve are not good at all but when she improves them she'll be a top player. She turned 17 last week so I guess it's ok.
Hope she isn't gonna be sad for long cause RG qualies are coming up.
Yes, today her game was far from impressive, but I guess anyone can have a bad day. First set was a lot about the nerves, as far as I could tell. BTW, I agree she's very nice to look at, kind of reminds me of Jennifer Capriati.
Anyway, looking forward to Paris, cause this was a wonderful week for Ajla!
