Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

I just hope she didn't hurry with come back to play at slams. If she is completely healthy, she will be back to form very soon.

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

^^
I always considered her to be top 100 talent, not more or less because it is always very difficult to predict what will happen with any young player no matter how good they seem to be in that time.

I was prety sure she would achieve that goal and enter top 100 this year but unfortunately mononucleosis was a big setback.
Many players never managed to recover from it.
It certainly stopped her growth so I'm not really sure anymore if she will be able to go through it and become better player.
She is young and time is on her side so there's hope.

Ajla's as unlucky with draws on Slams as Mirjana. I remember she had to play Mattek and Kanepi two years ago in Paris and London, Martic in Australia last year.
I can't remember who she lost to last year but she really unlucky with draws.

We can never know what'll happen with a player. Take for instance, Tereza Mrdeza. For most of her career she was around #500, a little bit up and a little bit down. Then last year, she changed something (we can only speculate as to what) and started playing much better than ever. Now she is at such a nice level that top 200 is a matter of days, a week or two in the worst case scenario.

So for all we know, something similar might happen to Ajla and she could reach that next level. At current level though, I doubt that she is capable of more than #75 or around that, even with ideal draws in important events. But who knows what'll tomorrow bring

Hope she has SR because if not she'll be in problems.

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

Maribor $25K, singles

R1: Ajla TOMLJANOVIC (CRO) [5] 3-6 6-3 6-2 Zuzana LUKNAROVA (SVK)
R2: Ajla TOMLJANOVIC (CRO) [5] 2-6 6-3 6-1 Viktorija GOLUBIC (SUI)

Seems like Ajla's form is shaky but at least she has won two matches and is through to the QF.

She plays Koehler next. Good luck!

Shvedova is now into the QF

And Ajla won eight games against her. Here's how many games Shvedova's other opponents won:

QR1: Tomljanovic, 8
QR2: Vandeweghe, 3
QR3: E Bogdan, 2
R1: Minella, 7
R2: Arvidsson, 1
R3: S Navarro, 9
R4: Na Li, 8

Ajla won more games than Vandeweghe, Bogan and Avridsson combined and as many games as Na Li

Re: Ajla Tomljanovic thread!

After watching yesterday what Shvedova did to the defending champion (complete demolition, absolute destruction, utter humiliation...), I'm more than happy with Ajla's result against her.
