Poor Petra, must be feeling awful about this whole season. First the injury and now, as it seems, a loooong way back to where she once was. The good, and at the same time the bad, thing about it is she'll be faced with playing in many ITF's in the second part of 2013 - good about it is it'll slowly build her confidence and her game back to where they should be; bad about it is it'll be slow first and foremost. She'll need a lot of understanding and encouragement in the following period cause it'll surely be frustrating to be in her shoes, playing against fields a class below just to get on the right track again. Grand slams will be even more important now for her, cause apart from them, there won't be too many chances to play on big events for big points and speed up the recovery of her ranking. Hopefully her former top 50 status will bring about a wild-card or two into larger events when the right time comes.
Hlavackova is awesome doubles player, I think grand slam winner! Hope Petra and her make good combination!
You think well, she is a slam champ and an olympic medalist as well, both with her standard partner Hradecka if I'm not mistaken. Great to see such a quality doubles player willing to team up with Petra at such a rough stage in her career. I think they can handle their first opponents.
They got some luck and they should use it. In R1 they played team that got last in(which in doubles doesn't always have to be good) and probably the worst team in the draw.
Since Makarova/Vesnina pulled out now they will play alts. Castano/Duque which is fantastic draw. Also, if they make it to QF they will play Kudryatseva/Rodionova or Govortsova/ML which is also great draw.
Take this chance!
