Hradecka to serve for the set at 5:4. Better play from Petra in the second part of this set, but still trailing. Stats are pretty much the same and it proves that this is a pretty even match just like I thought, but...break points saved, Hradecka 5/6, Petra 3/5; also double faults, Petra 3, Hradecka 0.
Well if you exclude the double faults and break point conversion stat, it was a pretty even match. But as tennismaster8820 said, 8 doubles (some of which were on BP's) and inability to convert majority of the chances on break points, was what decided this one. Too bad, this was a chance for Petra, but with such a bad serving day she couldn't give enough to win. This will cost her 60 points, i.e. some 10 ranking spots. In other words, if the same happens in Miami (also defending 80 points), she'll have to find a way to earn back some in time to avoid having to qualify in Paris (deadline should be around the middle of April, I think).
Surely not an easy draw, but it could've been so much worse. Hope Petra beats Kristina for the third time as well, after winning in 3 sets in Athens 50k last year (quarters) and in straights in 2009 Portoroz (R1). Both were hardcourt events as well, which must be important for this Miami encounter too. If she brings her A game to the court, she should win, but it could be tricky.
