Nadia Petrova Withdraws/Some Main Draw Match-Ups

Nadia has withdrawn with a 'buttock injury'....ouch.

From Tennis Australia:

CANBERRA, Jan 10 AAP - A buttock injury has forced top seed Nadia Petrova to withdraw from the Canberra Women's Classic on the eve of the start of the tennis tournament. The Russian and world No.12 strained her left gluteal muscle during the final of the Uncle Tobys Hardcourts today, which she lost to Japan's Ai Sugiyama.
After winning the first set 6-1 against world No.10 Sugiyama, Petrova began to struggle and eventually lost the match 6-1 1-6 4-6.

World No.14 Paola Suarez of Argentina is the new top seed at the Canberra tournament and comes into the event on the back of a strong showing in Auckland where she was beaten in the semi-finals by eventual winner Eleni Daniilidou of Greece.

Suarez is the world's top-ranked female doubles player and a winner of 30 WTA titles. Tournament director Janet Young said while it was disappointing to lose Petrova from the main draw, the overall quality of the field remained strong.

"We really feel for Nadia," Young said.
"She is in the best form of her career and it is only a matter of time before she wins her first title. We wish her well with her recovery and we hope that she will be fit and ready to play in Melbourne at the Australian Open."

Petrova's withdrawal means Australian wildcard Evie Dominikovic will now avoid fifth seed Petra Mandula of Hungary in the first round.

The main draw was held before Petrova's withdrawal and Dominikovic drew a first-round encounter with Mandula.
In a reshuffle following Petrova's withdrawal, Suarez will remain in the bottom half of the draw where she will play a qualifier in the first round.

Third seed Silvia Farina Elia will shift into Petrova's place and Mandula will take Elia's place under WTA Tour regulations. Spain's Maria Sanchez Lorenzo, as the next highest ranked player in the event, will take Mandula's place in the draw and will meet Dominikovic in the first round.

The reshuffle also makes way for a lucky loser to be elevated from qualifying. Dominikovic joins fellow Sydneysider Monique Adamczak as the two wildcard entries.

Adamczak, 21, is one of Tennis Australia's targeted athletes and will meet unseeded Spaniard Arantxa Parra in a first round match tomorrow.
Her world ranking has shot up more than 250 places in the past year with Adamczak now the world No.271.

-----------------------
Uh, Monique actually improved her ranking by almost 800 spots this year!

Poor Nadia Best to be safe for Melbourne though...

So main draw matches:

WC-Evie Dominikovic v Maria Sanchez Lorenzo
WC-Monique Adamczak v Arantxa Parra

Cant find a full draw yet...

Nadia
This would have been a great chance to win her first title here.
