Being so close to a double bagel and then they lose a game is basically torture

40 minutes :cheer:

#8 ·
There are seriously no words for that intro.

Being upset over losing a game

Nice little report here from coolfish1103 :)

I then went to see Anett Kontaveit v. Naoko Eto.
The number of spectators in Center Court is about ~150. The number of spectators in Court #1 is about ~100.

So we get a blue bleacher stand but no one is allowed to sit there except camera man and coaches :oh:

BFCD finished practice. Guess how long she practiced?

Remember I said Wang was not good? ...but this Eto is even worse.

I don't know how she got a wild card, she couldn't return well or serve well. Most of the points she earned came from Anett spraying unforced errors into the net... so yes it was a disappointed that Anett couldn't double bagel her.

The Taiwanese that practiced with BFCD.

Sorry chingching, you only get this version of Anett for the most part.

Zhang Shuai switched a hitting partner, not sure who it is cause I didn't bother watching them practice.

Anybody got any idea how Naoko Eto got a wild card? She is 30+ years old, so she is definitely not a young promising player.

I think this one went into the net as well :oh:

Anett serving.

Not like my reports :oh: Plus, he didn't bother to watch practice like I did

#13 ·
Haha no. He just gave very basic comments  In his defence though he did have to watch from the most ridiculous position :spit: And he did watch some practices, but in China they ban spectators. They wouldn't even let the people watch Anett's match, that's why he got kicked out  :help:

Anyway, more stuff from him :

Anett hit the last ball down the line then ended the match.

Handshakes.

This is the closest clear shot I can get for Anett :tape:

I am sure there will be other people visiting the venue in the coming days, so for sure you can see some clear pictures or even other things once they start the main draw and actually do events.

Anett's now Turkish, eh?

The Main Draw is out and the Qualifier placements are quite good :inlove: She could play another Qualifier,Yanina Wang, Urszula Radwanska, Hsieh and Halep. Obviously Halep is bad but the others are very good and also good R2s :inlove: Let's just beat CoCo Sheniqua first though :D

Weather has cleared up a lot so we will most likely see her :)

Also, Naomi gave Anett some love in a WTA interview :inlove:

"WTA Insider: Tennis is a funny sport. A few weeks ago you lost 6-4 in the third to Kontaveit and she went on to make the round of 16 at the US Open. This week you got into the tournament as a lucky loser and now you're into the semifinals.
Broady: It's kind of been a crazy year. I've lost to a lot of girls this year in three sets or in close matches that have all been playing well and a lot of them have broken into the Top 100. I kept thinking to myself, I just needed to catch a break or get a good draw. Now I've been given this second chance as the lucky loser.

Anett played great in the final round at the US Open and I played well too. It was a great match and that she was able to go on to beat those other players, I'm able to take confidence from her success too because I know that I was right there with her in that match."

It's raining now when their opponents were about to finish

Jüri and Anett are taking their obsession with each other to a new level :spit: Now he is posting on all of her super old photos and they are having conversations on every one :haha: Goodbye Whitt :oh:

Broady winning a few matches is one of the most random events this year, along with Vince's sudden peaking to save tennis, Kyrgios being bullied by $tacey and Halep's preparation for slams.

Can't believe I only just realised this but they are playing Anett's match on an Indoor Court  She is not doing so well though, winning 6-4 3*-4. After being up 5-1 in the first, she has been pretty bad it seems, wasting BPs and holding unconvincingly  :scared: Hopefully she can finish in straights...

Estonian beauty won against CoCo Sheniqua Xu 6-4 6-4 :inlove: She faced a BP at 3-4 but managed to break the next game and find some First Serves to Break :cheer: Hopefully she gets a placement in Q2 (1/2 chance :inlove:) and can win some matches to boost her ranking even further :cheer: :)

Because she didn't play last week Anett's ranking has taken an unfortunate hit, dropping from 96 to 98 in the Live Rankings and 80 to 85 in the Race. With some good results here though she will bounce straight back up again :inlove: She is in the fortunate position of actually still having 1 pointers on her ranking, so every week her points count :)

For Next Week's live rankings, Anett is up to 92 due to Qualifying, but obviously it is too early to tell exactly where she will finish as many other players have not played matches yet :) If she wants to break Top 90 she will almost definitely need a QF. I am thinking of starting a new thread dedicated to Anett's ranking and schedule :oh:  :inlove:

I think a goal Anett should have for next year is to represent Estonia at teh Rio Olympics :inlove: She always seems to be very proud of her Estonian-ness and is always happy to play Fed Cup (which not that many players seem to be happy to do). I think playing in the Olympics would be even more special for her than for others :inlove: And she is actually at this stage inside the Top 55 to Qualify on the race  :cheer: Unfortunately hr Eastbourne title didn't count, but it gives her an opportunity next RG to put on some points (or even to play the same ITF in Eastbourne again and win it :oh:). There are various conditions and exceptions when it comes to Olympics, but it seems to me that if she is inside the Top 65 after RG next year, she will probably make it. If she is just outside but is still ranked ahead of Kaia, she will have even more chance. It would be pretty cool if Anett and Kaia could both Qualify and maybe even play Doubles :inlove: I want to see Anett play Mixed though too :oh:

Anett got exactly the spot I hoped for :haha: :inlove:

(1)Halep v (Q)Martic
(wc)Yang v Babos
Allertova v Friedsam
Jovanovski v (7)Kovinic

(3)Errani v Duan
(Q)Jabeur v (Q)KL.Zhang
Hsieh v (Q)Kontaveit
Krunic v (8)Zheng

(5)Kuznetsova v Hantuchova
(Q)Q.Wang v U.Radwanska
(wc)Zhang v Schiavone
Vesnina v (4)Jankovic

(6)Niculescu v Putintseva
(wc)Y.Wang v (Q)Peterson
Wickmayer v Linette
Puig v (2)Petkovic

It will still not be an easy match against hsieh, especially as McNamee will have a lot of information to offer to Su-Wei about Anett's weaknesses, but Su-Wei is not the player she used to be and having watched her against Linette, I think Anett's previous exposure to Su-Wei's game will give her more of an advantage than the other way around. If she stays calm and keeps a good level this much is most definitely winnable. Exactly the same can be said for both Krunic and Zheng in hthe next round. A big opportunity here for Anett, but she must play well :)
