Here is a needed thread for Sasha! RG is coming and she may do things there, she's having a very solid year so far, posting better and better results since the end of last year.
She was born on April 22, 1998 in Moscow, started the year just inside the junior Top 100 and last week she was reaching a new CHR of 34 already!
She's won 2 titles in singles this year so far: G2 ITF Juniors Tennis Club Hammamet in Tunisia in February, and G1 Perin Memorial in Croatia in March. :yeah: Plus 3 more SF appearances, at G1 Czech International Junior Indoor Championships, at G2 Tunisia Junior ITF and at G1 Yeltsin Cup.
This week she was playing GA Trofeo Bonfiglio in Italy, and she reached the QFs. She lost her QF match against Charlotte Robillard-Millette (who's been in beast form these last weeks ) yesterday, despite taking the first set.
So at the end of this week, she's at an impressive record of 23-4 in juniors so far this year!
This year she's scored wins over: Dayana Yastremska, Hana Mraz, Berfu Cengiz, Ioana Minca, Ekaterina Kazionova, Ioana Pietroiu, Tamara Zidansek, Miriam Kolodziejova, Dalma Galfi (just this week - her best perf!) and Olesya Pervushina ras.
She's played only 2 pro tournaments so far this year: she tried her luck at 10K Shymkent twice a month ago, and didn't get much success - she qualified both times but lost in R1 every time (to (2)Kerimbayeva, 5-7 3-6 the first time, and to Urzhumova, 6-1 4-6 2-6 the week after).
RG's coming now, it will be her first try at a Slam ever, she must feel really excited and on top confidence-wise! I hope she has a great time there, and gets her first Slam win. Best of luck to her in the future, davay!
