I'd like to open the thread that would be about discussing our nearest prospects, namely , players who are in the second hundred or around it. Of course, it is not about, say Nadya or Lina, who are there on temporary basis. Neither it is about players ranked very low, below 250-300, because they still have quite a way to go. Lets say, it's about those whom we can already see playing Grand Slams qualifying, so they are already a threat to get noticed and break into Top 100.
As it seems to be right now, we are much better in Top 100 than in the second, which is, I guess, natural. Most of our girls destined to do well, and Top 100 is a final destiny, so that's why most of them are there. But whom can we expect to get there any time soon?
OK, Lina, Nadya will be there within weeks. I am a little bit worried about Nadya probably running out of her protected rankings events, so she'll have to play low tiers soon, which is probably OK. Let's not forget, neither her nor Lina have a title yet.
Zhenya Koulikovskaya is , as usual, balancing on the edge of Top 100. With her unorthodox style of play, it is very difficult to expect her doing any better. What can trick a second 100 player, won't be enough against power of Top 100 player.
Nastya Rodionova seem to get stuck in the Top half of the second hundred. Maybe she will be able to gradually drift a bit higher and become ranked like Zhenya, or Alinka at best. But highly unlikely any better than that - with her physique, she needs to transform herself pretty much Panova-style to have a chance.
Masha Goloviznina - a player I've never seen play. As remarkable as it is, she now seems to be the only amateur in Top 200. What is she doing for living then?
Well, Masha Sharapova will be very soon in Top 100, that is pretty obvious and she seems to be the only our prospect of the second 200 in nearest future..
