Time to have a thread for the cute Vika! :D

She's a promising 16 yo Junior. She was born in 1995 (Aug 3), she's Russian, so, but was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She's right-handed with a double-handed backhand.
She started playing tennis at 8. She's currently ranked #23 in juniors (career high: #16) and #505 in seniors. Her best results on pro circuit for the moment are: winning 2 10K (Portschach and B Waltersdorf) + QF in 50K Saransk, where she defeated qualified, beat Buyukakcay in 2 sets most notably, and lost to (6)Veronika Kapshay 2-6 4-6.
She hasn't played any more tournament on pro circuit this year. She reached Eddie Herr's final last year, losing to Putintseva 3-6 6-7(4). She reached QF (partnering Soregi) in doubles. Then she lost in R1 at the Orange Bowl against Elizaveta Ianchuk 4-6 3-6. But she won the title in doubles, partnering Ganna Poznikhirenko.

According to her profile on the ITF website, her hobbies are football, computers, games, books & cinema, and her favourite players are Robin Soderling and Samantha Stosur.

^ Play was abandoned due to rain.

Now she's playing her first pro tournament of the year-- the 25K La Marsa qualies, where she is the #1 seed. She got a bye and will play #10 Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers for a spot in the main draw.

Wow, Vika was really tested by Yvonne, and had to beat her, 46 64 63

Now that's she's made it, she faces Isabella Shinikova in the first round, who she's 0-1 against.

Upset Elitsa, 2 & 2, then upset Angelica Moratelli, 64 46 62, to reach her second consecutive SF of the year!

Now faces another qualifer, Sara Sorribes Tormo, who Vika beat in Tunis, for a spot in the final. :D

Well, 16 y.o. Sara Sorribes Tormo got revenge on Vika, who defeated her two weeks ago, with Vika upset 46 63 46!

Vika's so good, that when she loses, it comes as bit of a shock

25K Imola.

#2 Vika some how made it through three 3-set matches, including a 64 57 62 win over Indy De Vroome in the quarters, to make her second SF of the year!

She now faces #1 Lyudmyla Kichenok for the title!

:woohoo:

In an upset she wins her first title of the year, first non-clay title (outdoor carpet), and largest title to date!

She will also provisionally be about #263 in the rankings-- a career high :yeah:
