It`s a year when it became visible that the new generation will soon overcome the "old" one. So it`s a year of new hopes

P.S. Welcome back aboard, ys

all-round its been a pretty good year, plenty of titles.
the juniors of 2001 coming good with the new youngsters doing very well in the junior slams.

only negatives
Elena D's fall to #19
and the serious injuries to Lina & Nadya
Likhovtseva's demise in doubles as well as singles.

And 2003 hopefully will be even better

Good luck in 2016 to my favs

A good year, maybe

Sveta K & Dinara S with WTA titles and gaining more experience on the tour

Nastia, Elena B, Vera Z climbing up the rankings

Unfortunately, no Russian girl inside the top 10 but things will get better

If I compare my country's achievements with yours , I should say it's been a wonderful year when even the outsiders started wondering if Russian girls are becoming a real threat to the USA dominance

Good luck to all the girsl in 2003 and, hopefully, no more serious injuries

In his yesterday interview to Soviet Sport, Tarpishev suggested that it won't take long for Safina and Kuznetsova to become better than Williams sisters. Does he see what we don't?

"..just knowing that as long as i choose life, there is hope."

A very brave statement, indeed

Maybe because he knows the girls and their mindset?

Who would say " this has been a good year"?
The best anyone will say in my country is "not bad".
It gives bad luck to say anything better than that.

This year has been not bad, giving signs and hopes of better things head. Hope is the key word.
