...depending on where we play and what courts we play on, Spain (given Conchi is o'k) might be very tough.

as for the first round match-up, Russia should get through even if Elena D. doesn't play (for whatever reason). Germany will miss Anke a lot.

It's funny. Petrova was worried about playing Spain in the 2001 Fed Cup final in Madrid. Because Spain would have had the home court advantage. She shouldn't have been worrying about that. Because Spain could never beat the Russian team as easily as the Belgian girls did. And Eggy, don't count your chickens before they are hatched! Bianka Lamade almost beat Elena Dementieva at Wimbledon. So, Germany may yet be tough opponents for the ravishing Russians.

Cat ..... Elena hates grass , and Bianka came in and served and volleyed pretty good in 1st set which she won, she has a good grass game.

I'm sure we can put other players up on grass if the Germans decide on grass.

Good luck to my favs

Eggy, grass courts? That means our Anna K. might be playing!

We won't get a home tie vs Spain. It is already known that if that match happens , it will be in Spain.

btw, I don't think Anna will be playing whether it's on grass, clay or any other surface. (I wish she did)

Yes, it was decided. The winner of Hungary/Spain plays winner Russia/Germany at home "if decided by lot", as they put it. Russia never played Spain in Fed Cup. So that will be the case.
