Question

So, what is our Elena B. up to these days? Can she get over her crushing disappointment (okay, i'm projecting!) of her Fed Cup and other bad losses? Is she working really hard to start 2002 on fire? What is her first scheduled event?

Anyone know ANYTHING? Eggy?

Janie, the main thing this girl needs to improve on is her serve. Elena B. is nearly 6'3" tall. She needs to start using her great size to her advantage, and lean on her serve. She should toss the ball out in front of her and get her weight moving into the ball. Udachi Elena!

Question

cat,
what you say interests me. Lindsay, another big girl, took years to develop her wonderful serve. I hope Elena is working on that right now, as well as her movement and her mental toughness!
Although Elena's year ended badly with that disastrous Fed Cup match, at least she can take solace in those 2 doubles wins right at the end of the season.
What is her coaching situation? Does she have a parent-coach too, like so many of the young Russians?

Janie, Elena B. played only one singles match in Fed Cup. And she lost a very close match, Russian style. That means she blew a lead. But she also won a very important doubles match with Elena Likhovtseva. Right? She just needs time to develope. And a good coach would help, too. So many Russian girls seem to be in the same boat. Don't they? They can't win a title. They are attractive. Double faults galore. They lack mental toughness. And they need the right coach to help them develope. Don't you agree?

Elena's had the same coach for quite a while now , he's very loud in her matches and a chain smoker.

Elena is more content with getting a large % of 1st serves in rather than big ones.

She's entered Sydney of now , but no tourn 1st week but she could use her Silver Exempt status to enter late.

Hopefully I can go to OZ (only AUS OPEN though) , its about 60-40 in favor

Good luck to my favs

cat:
It was blowing a comfortable lead in her one Fed Cup singles match that I was referring to as disastrous. I thought Petrova played the doubles with Likhotseva?

Egg:
Thanks for the info on EB's coach -- am just glad to hear it is not her Mom or Dad! Good luck getting to the AO, Eggy!

Nadia played two doubles as did Elena B.

Elena lost her 1st singles which she should have won against Hrdlickova.

Good luck to my favs

Thanks for the correction, Eggy. I had completely forgotten that they played against two teams.

Also thanks for lettting us know that EB is playing Sydney. I hope she gets there early to get used to conditions! That is, if she does not enter one of the earlier events.

OKAY, ELENA!! Your Time Has Come!!

Elena is in a comfy section of the draw! She plays "Qualifier" first, and nobody scary till Shaughnessy.

Now let's see if Elena can get inspired here and take advantage of her good draw to turn things around!

UDACHI, Elena! We are behind you all the way! Let Eggy help you!
