What looked to be a fine U.S Open for the Russians, has turned into a distaster!

Yestrdays terrible losses for Safin, Myskina and Panova are so dissapointing! Especially Safin's and Myskina's. Marat recently had Bronchitis and has a rib injury. And he had an awful draw. So he kas excuses. Myskina's loss to Bedanova is maddening. Anastsia still hasn't had a good grand slam tournament! I can understand Panova's loss.

All in all, having just 1 Russian in both draws make it to the round of 16 is disastrous!

And what happened to Mikhail Youzhny? He won his first ATP title about 6 weeks ago, and things were looking up for him! But then he disappears. I hope he's not seriously injured.

Happiness is like a cat. If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you. It will never come. But if you pay no attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing up against your legs and jumping into your lap. - William Bennett
