Should we raise expectations for Wimbledon?

Last couple of weeks were pretty kind to us (and to Russian girls)...

Nastya: final (loss to Dokic) and final again(at least)
Lena D. final (at least)
Lena B. loss to Raymond and Henin
Lena L. loss to Dokic and Bedanova

So it seems like there is a hope... what do you think? should we raise our expectations?

Personally, I think that Lena D. benefited (wisely) from a good draw. Nastya might be peaking too early.

Considering their Wimbledon draw:

Lena D. must reach the fourth round (no real grass court players in her draw)... Could she beat Justine? I doubted, but if she does, we'll see Lena in the semis.

Nastya: got an EXCELLENT draw and, unless she has spent too much energy playing in the past too weeks, should find herself in the quarters. The question remains: did she peak too early? As it happened to Potato Man... Last year Lleyton was unbeatable on grass coming into the Championship, but couldn't do much damage there.

Lena B.: should reach the third round: Tatiana doesn't like grass at all and we all know Anna's problems. But I don't think Lena B. will beat Iroda or Chanda (whoever reaches the fourth round)

Lena L.:got the worst draw... at least potentially. Roberta seems to be in good form. Kim is an excellent player, but she seems to have problems finding her form recently. I think, if Lena gets through the second round, she'll be playing in quarters. It's doable, Lena!

I don't know, tenn_ace.. I don't remember a single Russian player for whom any success in grass warmups would ever translated into anything good at W. Yevgeny always played well in Halle. But never at W. Natasha would play well at W, not playing or not playing well at Eastbourne, and then would play well at Eastbourne but lose early at W.
Lina and Nadya would lose first round at all grass warmups and then would have a nice W. Anna would not play Eastbourne and then reach W semis, and next year play very well at Easbourne, getting there an injury that might have ultimately ruined her career..

I am really afraid to extrapolate these good results of this year into anything. They are good by themselves, and lets not try to ask for more than we expected just because of these results, because I am afraid we migth get less than we expect.

No.
The Russian girls have played well recently, no doubt about that, but grand slams are wierd events. Players you've never heard of beat potential champs.
Almost every grand slam there is a suprise QF they normally make it to SF, before being beaten.
US Open 2000? Elena Dementieva
French Open 2002? Clarisa Fernandez
Wimbledon '99? Dokic and Stevenson
etc etc etc........

I agree with YS. Just because they're playing well BEFORE a grand slam, it's no guarentee (spelling?) that they'll play well IN a slam.
It's just like the World Cup. How many teams played well in qualifying or warm-ups and went out in first round?
Russia for one. Maybe that's a bad sign.

Nyet! What a disastrous day for the Russian girls! Poor Elena! She might turn into another Anna!

Elena is 0 - 4 in career finals. She lost the Olympics, Acapulco, Moscow and now Ordina. She wasted such a great opprtunity today to finally get the Monkey off her back! When will she ever get to play the likes of Pisnik in the semi's and Eleni in the finals again? Maybe never!

This has to hurt her chances of winning her first round match at Wimbledon.
