Arrow Tatiana Golovin!

So -- she is 14 years old, and she works with BRAD GILBERT??? She is not playing in the Junior event in Milan, but rather in the Roland Garros Qualies.

I am intrigued! How did she qualify for the RG qualies, since she is just 14?

she got a wc since she's French... this girl will be another burned out case by 20. And it's not only because she already plays on pro-tour, but she plays so much in general (including juniors)... I hope her coaches know what she's doing.

Vassilissa is my girl............

Janie, I had recently read in a Florida newspaper online that Moscow born Tatiana had worked out for Brad Gilbert for a couple of days. But that nothing came of it. Are you saying that Gilbert is coaching a 14 year old girl after coaching Andre Agassi for so many years?

I hope IMG isn't rushing Tatiana!

I was so shocked when I looked at the draw and went like: "What the hell she is doing?!"

Can anyone please explain to me why she is entered in the French Open?? According to AER, any 13 and 14 years-olds are not allowed to compete in any Grand Slams! That really pissed me off. It's totally unfair! She is the first player to compete in a Grand Slam at age 14 where other 14 years-olds are not allowed to compete, huh? Hasn't AER rules changed recently or what? I still don't understand.

She is too much of herself, in my opinion. Playing too much, too many endorsement deals, media, etc. She won only 1 junior title, and what else? Boy, she is rushing anything to be in the spotlight at such a young age. I agree fully with Tennis_Ace. I hope she will suffer from burned out and realize that she shouldn't have done that! Why can't she be a bit more patient like Maria Sharapova?

Why don't they wait until she turns to 15 next year to compete in French Open. I, of course, would understand then because she represents France. I would be very much expecting her to compete her Grand Slam debut next year with a wildcard in main or quailes but not this year because of that stricted AER.

Sharky, are you nuts! You want Tatiana to suffer from burnout? That's just wrong! And your jealousy is showing! If Maria Sharapova was playing a grand slam at age 14, you'd be thrilled.

Trading in her Russian citizenship for French citizenship was a good political move becaue the French Tennis Federation can help her in ways that The Russian Tennis Federation can only dream of. Because Tatiana is a French citizen, she was given a wildcard into qualifying. We should be happy for her and rooting for her. I bet Maria is!

Jealous? Maria S and Tatiana Govolin are the most appealing players. Maria S is my favorite since 1999. I don't understand your thinking, Scotso.

I understand that she represents France but the point is what about the AER rule? It states clearly that 13-14 yrs old are not allowed to compete in any Grand Slams? That's the only thing I don't understand.

I hope anyone can explain to me about the AER rule. Maybe only Eggy can explain. I then let my fustratation out of my system.

Cat, I would not approve if Maria was showing up at the Grand Slam at age 14. I am following the AER rule like everyone else. That's what the AER is adopted.

At least Maria is not 14 yrs old anymore!

Anyway, I won't be here for a little while (maybe, shouldn't I come back and post anymore, CatHat because I understand you are upset with my post ). I am sorry but I really miss maria for not playing for some time. I wasn't thinking straight and fooled myself, I guess.

Bye!

Sharky ....... she can play slams

b. (i) Between the date of a player’s fourteenth (14th) birthday and the day before her fifteenth (15th) birthday a player may participate in a maximum of seven (7) ITF Women’s Circuit Tournaments, only four (4) of which may be for prize money of greater than $10,000, plus regional Fed Cup Qualifying, and one (1) exhibition/non-Tour event. The number of ITF Women’s Circuit Tournaments a player may participate in will be reduced if the player receives a Wild Card into or accepts a Feed-Up position into a Sanex WTA Tour Tier I-V Tournament as provided in Sections 1(b)(ii) and 3.

(ii) These players are permitted to receive a maximum of three (3) Wild Cards as follows: one (1) Wild Card into the Main Draw or Qualifying Draw of any Sanex WTA Tour Tier I-V or ITF Women’s Circuit Tournament, and two (2) Wild Cards into the Main Draw or Qualifying Draw of any ITF Women’s Circuit Tournaments.

(iii) These players may earn a Sanex WTA Tour ranking; however, these players may not participate in professional Grand Slam events or Sanex WTA Tour Tournaments, including the Championships, by direct ranking acceptance.

I don't think Sharky's post was caused by jelaousy. Look, in the past 52 weeks Golovin played 15 tournaments on a junior circuit ( some of the geograpgy FRA NED PAR MAR USA AUS BRA GER) and 3 (inlcuding RG qualies) on a pro-tour... that's 18 events at the age of 14... Considering that at a junior level she usually goes deep in the tournament.... if that's not a lot of tennis, what else is?

besides, I don't think there is a reason for any jelaousy... Maria played far fewer tournaments on a junior level (9) and ranked higher...

Tatiana won her qualies match 6.2 3.0 she in for second round
If she is here it's because she can, how could it be other way. I don't think RG Directory will let her play if it was forbiden !!
I hope she will not have same problem as Mary because she half french.

Saby ........ Mary is alot more French than Tatiana.

Tatiana has 100% Russian blood ties.

sad she lost 6-4 6-2 to Rita Kuti-Kis....... no shame in that

Good luck to my favs

I hope 14 year old Tatiana Golovin learned alot from this experience. Kuti Kis is lefty, and she has some talent. Tatiana won a qualifying match at the French Open. And that's a good start. But now she needs to step it up in the juniors. She had alot of close losses last year to top junior players. Tati needs to win some of those matches this year.

So it will be harder for her if she's 100 % russian blood.....
Yes You are right !!!! Can you explain it to those stupid people who are saying she's only french when she wins

Sorry I don't accept this reaction because I'm in the case as Mary. (I have 2 differents "blood ties" plus the country where I'm was born and believe me, it's hard to find where you belong)
