Russian tennis fans. What do you know about this tennis facility?

I first read about this a couple of years ago with english translation on the tennis-russia website. I've located it again. Has it opened?

And Nina, after I read that Maria Sharapova had been reportedly training in Moscow, I thought of this newe facility. Do you know anything about this facility? It's supposed to be very good.

Anyway, the article in Russian is located at www.tennis-russia.ru/fondrazv.shtml

I guess it has not even been started yet. I understand that it was planned as Russian indoor tennis facility similar to USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing..

Nina and Fresh, when it opens, are you two going to be there? It looks like a great facility.

Fresh, what does (c) mean?

How can cash strapped Russia afford to build such a tremendous tennis facility?

Russia is cash-strapped. Moscow is not.

Yes. I read an article in F1 Racing magazine, an it said that even though Russia is poor, Moscow is a rich city.

Does anyone know anything about when they will build the F1 circuit that they are planning? It is supposed to be being built somewhere called Nagatino Island, or something like that anyway.
It also said that Nagatino Island is not actually an island. Is this true?
Is it also true that 'Moskva' is the Russian version of saying 'Moscow'?

I don`t know. I`m leaving Russia soon. Maybe when I return and if I return

"(c)" means copyright. It`s a mark to say that the words written before were a quotation. In my case it`s a quote from the Deer Hunter movie.

It is already almost built. The problem was with sighning a contract with Bernie. So the Russian GP debut was postponed from the year 2003 to 2004.

Thanks for the input.

Fresh, good luck on your travels. You're coming to America? For good? Good!

I'm a long time tennis fan. And a fan of the Russians. But if Moscow has money, I would think they could use that for better use than building a tennis facility. I keep reading about all the homeless children and orphanages in Moscow. Maybe Moscow would be better off by helping those terrible situations, rather than build a tennis facility, which is not important to every day life.

No Cat, I`m going to France to work for a local news agency and also as a special correspondent of my daily in France. It is 99 % decided already. I guess France is a better place to follow tennis At least concerning Roland Garros.
