Anastasia is a streaky player. She will have good moments this year.
Lena had problems with the heat.

I'm looking forward. Maria, Lena, and Nadia have very little to defend.
I'd like to see Nadia make it 5 Russians in the top 10.

Then Vera Z. can join in later this year.

That ends the Russian slam hopes.
Sveta goes for her first doubles major. Marat's in his third AO final.

Masha did very well to reach the semis and nearly def. S. Williams. Missed 3 MP's. Everything is up to Marat, add the men's tennis and still a possibility to win the Slam. All hopes on Marat.

That's it for the Russian women. Svetlana won her first doubles major.
Maria became the new Russian #1.
Now - good luck Marat.

Congrats to Marat Safin on winning the 2005 Australian Open titile and his second grand slam singles title. Marat saved the day for Russian tennis after the Russian women dropped the ball in Melbourne.
