Would you really be shocked if Nastya, Maria, or another Russian girl, got on fire and made the final?
I almost expect something crazy to happen.
Last year's final was not a high level match.
And Serena never plays her best in Melbourne.

Amelie should do really well IMO. Probably win it.

Linds should do well as well.

One of them will win it.

i dont think u should be so against a russian winning the AO tenn_ace. we know they are more than capable.
i also think momo, linds, venus, serena,HH can win it.
i would not be surprised at an all russian final. just as i would not be surprised if there were not 1 russian in the SF's.
this year's slams are the most open in years.

Lindsay has a chance. Amelie has a chance. But there are several Russians who can beat them.
Justine and Serena should be tough.
I think all of the top Russians improved in 2004, maybe Nadia stayed even.
I expect some of them to keep improving.

I wasn't confident at all about the US Open.
Lindsay and Amelie had great summers.
Justine won the Olympics. Serena knew the US Open was her last chance for a threepeat.
I'm much more confident about the AO. Nobody stands out.

The great thing about this years AO is that there isnt a clear favourite. nastya, masha, sveta have proved they can win a slam. lena d is almost there. vera, nadia, lena b will be challanging.
venus/serena/capriati/lindsay/momo/ all want it but havnt been playing that great.
the defending champion HH has been on a tennis death-bed for months.
anyone could win it.
in the other slams, one or two mite stick out, but still no definate favourites.
this is going to be the most interesting and exciting season yet.

It won't be more exciting than 2004. This was the first time.
Now we're looking for a continuation of 2004.
But I'll still get excited.

there was less anticpation about 2004. noone expected the russian invasion.
so when it came it was a surprise and was then exciting.
at this point, 2005 is the exciting season, because anyone of about 15 girls could win the slams. noone would have thought that last year.
i think momo will win one,and she deserves it.
i hope lena d will..........

Amelie will never have a better chance than she had this year.
Especially in NYC.
I wouldn't be surprised to see some new faces in the slam finals.
I'm thinking Bovina, Petrova, Zvonareva. Maybe someone unexpected like Safina.

she did have a great chance...but my girl stuffed it in her face
she is still no 2. she has more chances in her.
i think nadia, bovina, zvonareva willl make an impact. but im sceptical about them reaching GS finals.
and if safina made a GS final i would be in shock for a week.

I want to see either Safina or Jidkova make a breakthrough considering they finished the year off well - especially Alina.
