Soon-to-turn 17 (born March 4, 2000) left-handed Nastya from Podolsk has always looked pretty promising but she kinda flew under the radar as compared to some other 2000/2001 born fellow Russian girls... until now: indeed, out of the 3 tournaments she's played so far this year, she won 2 and was runner-up at one.
She started with a final at G2 Slovak Junior Indoor: she double-bagelled talented 2002 born local WC Romana Cisovska in R1, received a WO from Oona Orpana (who had routined top seed Vismane in R1) in R2, beat 8th seed Valeriya Deminova (17 yo, #121) 4 & 3 in QF and 7th seed Karolina Berankova (#109) 7-5 6-1 in SF, before losing a close 5-7 5-7 final to 4th seed Kamilla Rakhimova (15 yo, #76); then, she won G2 Donetsk City Cup a month ago: she was the 2nd seed there, beat Daria Orichkevitch 3 & 2 in R1, Yulia Starodubtsewa 0 & 3 in R2, 6th seed Zeynep Erman 7-6(4) 6-1 in QF, 3rd seed Anna Laguza 6-1 2-0 ret. in SF, and 4th seed Valeriya Deminova 3-6 6-3 6-2 in the final; and this week she's won G1 Yeltsin Cup in Kazan (her biggest title): she was the 7th seed there, had a bye in R1, beat qualifier Elizaveta Kharitonova 4 & 2 in R2, 12th seed Lisa Piccinetti 6-7(5) 7-5 3-0 ret. in R3, Anastasia Tikhonova (who routined 15th seed Boltinskaya in R1 and Sorokolet - who upset top seed Rakhimova in R2 - in R3) 7-5 6-2 in QF, local qualifier Anastasia Sukhotina (same age, Top 300, who thrashed 8th seed Deminova in R2 and 11th seed Vishnveskaya in R3, and then upset 3rd seed Garcheva in QF) 1 & 3 in SF yesterday, and 5th seed Karolina Berankova (16 yo, #82, who thrashed 9th seed Pachkaleva in R3, 2nd seed Lansere in QF and also beat 6th seed Charaeva in straights in SF), 6-3 4-2 ret. in the final today!
She also won the title in dubs at both Slovak Junior Indoor (they thrashed top seeds Berankova/Vismane 2 & 2 in SF, and Erjavec/Laguza 3 & 2 in the final) and Yeltsin Cup, both time with Dasha Nazarkina (they were the 2nd seeds, routined 3rd seeds Deminova/Pachkaleva - who upset top seeds Lansere/Rakhimova in SF - 4 & 1 in the final), and also was runner-up at Donetsk City Cup with Deminova, so she's also a good doubles player!
Last year, she reached 2 singles finals, which she both lost: at G2 Ozerov Cup in Moscow in May (lost 6-7(2) 2-6 to Varvara Gracheva in the final), and at G5 Green Cup in Piter in November (lost 5-7 2-6 to Elizaveta Volodko in the final), so in 2 months now she's already done way better than in her whole 2016!
She's currently ranked #93, with a CHR of 85, so she'll face a brand new CHR next week!
Keep going!
