A thread for the 16 yo Russian legend who plays part right-handed (serve), part left-handed (groundies)
Rita was born on January 13, 2000 in Bataysk near Rostov-on-Don, she lives in Sochi.
She reached the final at the U17 Russian Championships last week, lost to Vlada Koval (2001) in the final, 4 & 2.
She's played only in SES this year (except for a G16 in Russia in January) so far, reached the semis twice there, and has 1 more QF appearance. Scored wins over Korashvili, Burgic Bucko & Bolkvadze there.
She's ranked #822 this week, very close to her CHR of 818.
Last year, she only played 4 tournaments - won 1 title (G16 Dynamit Cup in Lida, Belarus, beating 2002 born Avelina Sayfetdinova 3 & 3 in the final), made 1 more final (at G16 Velcom Cup in Minsk, lost 3 & 2 to Vlada Koval in the final
) + another SF appearance, at 10K Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan, where she scored good straight-set wins over Rudakova & Lodikova.
Actually, it turns out this year is the first year she's been competing intensively - before that, she played only 4 tournaments last year, 3 in 2014, none in 2013 & one in 2012.
Sounds pretty promising for a novice!
