Lena in Paris

Serna (8) – Mandula
Pierce – Dechy
Bovina - Q/LL
Bye - Dokic (4)

Lena couldn't ask for a better draw to the SF's.

Watch her fail miserably.

Keep the faith, Keith. Those are winnable matches for Lena. Of course any of those possible opponents could beat Lena, too.

Who is Lena playing? If she does win the first round, Dokic won three matches in Tokyo.

Lena won 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. She's showing stamina, but not playing well.

Lena plays Dokic tomorrow. She has to play better than she has so far in 2004 singles.

Lena and Dokic are 1-1. But Lena's not playing well. It's time to improve.

6-4 in the 3rd over Medina, indoors...

That's just as good as a loss.

Lena has a shot against Jelena. I know Jelena won 3 matches in Tokyo, but her competition wasn't the greatest, and they were all tight matches except for Tati.

Jelena's groin is also bothering her... and she's planning to play everything from Tokyo to Miami.

The chances of another tankjob (ala US Open 2002) are decent.

Lena is in the same situation as Elena D.
They had better improve. Or it will be a tough year. Lena is so much better than this.

No.

Dementieva was in good shape, she just had recent injuries. Dementieva wasn't a string bean.

Lena has the ability to get the level of Dementieva, but there's no chance that's happening for a long while.

They are both off their good form. Lena won a long 3 setter. So did Elena.

Lena defeated Dokic 4-6 7-6(5) 6-0

A good win over Jelena, who has been playing great since Zurich. I sense that Jelena gave up in the 3rd, plus her leg was wrapped.

Lena will have to play even better to defeat Pierce, especially in Paris. Lena will have to hit her angles well, and move big Mary around.

A good chance for another Tier 2 semifinal, but it won't be easy.
